Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: Hon’ble Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh undertook a two-day visit to Gujarat, during which he paid his obeisance at the sacred Shree Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath and visited the iconic Statue of Unity. He was accompanied by his wife Smt Mitra Ghosh.

During his visit to the Shree Somnath Temple, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh offered prayers and sought blessings for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Haryana and the nation. He also took keen interest in the temple’s rich history and its architectural grandeur.

Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh visited the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. He paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel, acknowledging his monumental contribution to India’s unity and nation-building. He said that the Statue of Unity stands as a timeless tribute to India’s spirit of integrity, determination and progress.

During his visit, Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh also toured the Arogya Van, a wellness and herbal garden, which showcases India’s traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and holistic health practices. He appreciated the efforts undertaken to promote Ayurveda, yoga, and natural healing methods for public well-being.

Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh also attended Bharat Parv, where he witnessed vibrant performances reflecting Gujarat’s rich folk traditions and India’s diverse cultural fabric.

The Governor commended the Government of Gujarat and the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam for their commendable work in developing the Statue of Unity ecosystem as a world-class tourist destination that promotes heritage wellness, and sustainability.

Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh expressed that such events reaffirm India’s cultural unity and the nation’s collective resolve to preserve its timeless traditions while embracing progress and innovation.
