Chandigarh, October 25: Paramjit Singh Kainth, Punjab State Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Scheduled Caste Morcha, has exposed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs for underutilizing the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds. Kainth said, "Six out of seven Rajya Sabha MPs under the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann have spent less than 27% of their allocated funds (2022-25), disappointing the people of Punjab. This is a matter of grave concern for the people of Punjab, with a population of over 30 million." He further explained that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government provides Rajya Sabha MPs with ₹5 crore per year under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, distributed in two installments of ₹2.5 crore each, also known as the "MP Fund."
The amount allocated and spent by six Rajya Sabha members is as follows: Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Allocated Year 2022-25 Balbir Singh Seechewal Rs 14.72 crore 9.49 crore, Harbhajan Singh Rs 17.19 crore 5.76 crore, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal Rs 17.35 crore 2.48 crore, Raghav Chadha Rs 18.82 crore 70.86 lakh, Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahni Rs 14.71 crore 5.76 crore, Sandeep Kumar Pathak Rs 18.32 crore 2.76 crore, out of total Rs 101.11 crore, Rs 26.95 crore has been spent
