Chandigarh, 11 October: The Postgraduate Department of Economics of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised the 59th A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition in collaboration with the A.D. Shroff Memorial Trust C/O Forum of Free Enterprises, Mumbai. The competition provided a platform for students to articulate their perspectives on contemporary economic and social issues with clarity, confidence, and originality. Participants spoke on thought-provoking topics such as “Job Creators vs Job Seekers: The Need of the Hour”, “Making India a Global Manufacturing Hub” and “Are Our Education and Skills Aligned with Corporate Demand?”

A total of 32 students registered for the competition and showcased remarkable eloquence, analytical insight, and creativity. Sidak Dhillon (B.A. II) won the first prize with a cash award of ₹2500, followed by Angel (B.A. I) who secured the second prize of ₹1500. Vanshika Sharma (B.A. III) earned the third prize of ₹1000, while Sara Khyati and Gitanjali (B.Com II) received consolation prizes for their commendable performances.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the efforts of all participants and congratulated the winners for their exemplary performances. She also lauded the organizing committee for their commitment to nurturing public speaking and critical thinking skills among students.
