CHANDIGARH, 24.09.25-The Postgraduate Department of Sociology, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, organized a Lecture on Law Enforcement and Sociology under the PM-Usha Scheme today.
The session was graced by the esteemed presence of Sh. Prabodh Kumar, Former DGP, Punjab, who delivered the keynote lecture. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and nearly 200 students.
The session commenced with a green welcome by Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Vice-Principal and Registrar of the College, and Dr. Mona Arora, Head of the PG Department of Sociology.
Sh. Prabodh Kumar explained the true meaning of enforcement and how sociology provides a theoretical lens to understand the relationship between law and society. He underlined that human rights, fundamental rights, and the dignity of the individual are at the core of both law and sociological inquiry. Highlighting that crime is a social phenomenon, he discussed the vital role of law enforcers in shaping a just society. He further elaborated on the significance of community policing, correctional institutions, and the fight against corruption as essential aspects of building trust between state institutions and citizens.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mona Arora, Head of the PG Department of Sociology. She expressed gratitude to the speaker for his enriching insights and to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement in making the event a success.
