Chandigarh, September 18, 2025-BOSONS - The Physics Club, The Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector-32, Chandigarh, successfully organized the 4th National Conference on “Recent Advances in Physics” supported by DBT BUILDER Scheme of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, New Delhi. The conference brought together eminent scientists, researchers, academicians, and students from across the country to share the latest developments, research findings, and innovations in physics.

The inaugural session began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, setting the tone for a day of rich academic exchange. The conference featured a keynote address by Prof. K.C. Jena, Head of the Department of Physics at IIT Ropar, who spoke on “Confined Molecular Structure at Air/Aqueous Interface: An Insight into Specific Ion Effects.” His lecture offered deep insights into molecular interactions at interfaces using advanced spectroscopic techniques, with implications for both fundamental research and industrial applications.

The technical sessions included talks by distinguished speakers from premier institutions. Prof. Ram Prasad Prajapati from JNU Delhi presented “Indian Space Science and Fusion Technology Saga in Making – Viksit Bharat@2047,” highlighting India’s strides in space research and nuclear fusion. Dr. Harvinder Kaur Jassal from IISER Mohali discussed “The Enigmatic Dark Energy,” shedding light on one of the most profound mysteries of modern cosmology. Prof. Vipin Bhatnagar from Panjab University, Chandigarh, spoke on “Mega Science Experiments: Innovation to Societal Impacts,” emphasizing how large-scale scientific collaborations contribute to technological growth and societal benefits.

The conference also included oral and poster presentations by participants, which provided an engaging platform for young researchers and students to showcase their innovative ideas. The day concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Aniruddh Joshi, General Secretary of GGDSD College Society, who applauded the efforts of the speakers, participants, and organizers for their contributions.

The Principal of the college Dr. Ajay Sharma appreciated the Department of Physics for their initiative, encouraging them to continue building a strong culture of research and innovation at the college. He remarked that such conferences foster meaningful academic exchange and inspire students to take forward the spirit of inquiry. The management of GGDSD College also extended full support to the event, for which the organisers expressed their deep gratitude.

Dr. Neelu Mahajan, Head of the Physics Department and Convenor, Dr. Samandeep, Organsing Secratary and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Co-Convenor, extended their gratitude to the participants and collaborators for their enthusiasm and support. They emphasized that the discussions and insights shared during the event would contribute to advancing research and meeting future technological needs.

Overall more than 150 participants including students, research scholars and faculty attended the event. The Conference successfully bridged the gap between academia and real-world applications, reaffirming the importance of collaborative research in physics and setting the stage for future innovations.
