CHANDIGARH, 03.09.25-Students of the National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER Chandigarh, actively participated in a series of competitions including face painting, slogan writing, poster making, and rangoli making on the theme of “Eye Donation”. The event was organized by the Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER, in collaboration with the Lions Club Chandigarh Central, and held at NINE, PGIMER today.
The creative competitions aimed to spread awareness about the noble cause of eye donation and highlight the role of healthcare providers in motivating society to pledge their eyes.
Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal of NINE, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in sensitizing nursing students toward community health responsibilities as she said, "Nursing students are among the most vital healthcare providers, and their involvement in spreading awareness about eye donation can make a significant difference at the grassroots level. By educating the community, they can help bridge the gap between the need for corneal transplants and the availability of donated eyes.”
The event was coordinated by Ms. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Tutor at NINE, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting their commitment to social causes.
