CHANDIGARH,24-08-2025-The 36th Annual Conference of the Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society (COS) was held on August 23rd and 24th, 2025, bringing together around 250 ophthalmologists and eye care professionals from tricity and around. Organized under the leadership of Dr. Amit Gupta, President of COS, and Dr. Parul Ichhpujani, Secretary of COS, the conference offered a rich academic experience featuring cutting-edge discussions, expert-led sessions, and opportunities for professional networking.

Among the highlights were two prestigious orations: the Dr. A. D. Grover Memorial Oration, delivered by Dr. Prashant Garg from the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, who shared insights from his extensive work in corneal diseases and public eye health; and the Prof. I. S. Jain Memorial Oration, presented by Dr. Namrata Sharma from the Dr. R. P. Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi, who captivated the audience with her talk titled “Cornea: From Replacement to Regeneration.”

The scientific program featured diverse sessions, including a focused discussion on pediatric eye care, a symposium on “Innovations in ophthalmology”, and a special session dedicated to young ophthalmologists. These were complemented by the Free Paper, Challenging Cases, and E-Poster sessions, where participants presented original research, complex clinical scenarios, and visually engaging academic posters. The Best Free Paper Award was won by Dr. Abha Gupta for “Evaluation of role of oral Vitamin B12 and folate supplementation in open angle glaucoma”, the Best Challenging Case Award was conferred upon Dr. Manu Sharma from Advanced Eye Center, PGIMER.

Earlier, the EYECONIC-2025 was inaugurated by Dr KK Talwar, Ex Director, PGIMER Chandigarh.

Dr Amod Gupta, Ex Dean, PGIMER Chandigarh was honoured with *Lifetime Achievement Award by Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society,
for his role as a pioneer innovator and teacher . The COS news letter was released by the dignitaries.

There was a quiz for postgraduates, team from Government Medical College and Hospital comprising of Dr Varnika Aditi Singh and Dr Arushi Aggarwal won the first prize while second prize was won by team from Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER comprising of Dr Pranav Survase and Dr Ashish Sunkarapalli. These awards recognized excellence and innovation among both emerging and experienced professionals.
