MAHENDERGARH, 20.06.25-The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh has extended its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC), Hisar, for an additional three years. This continued partnership aims to foster collaborative efforts in teaching, research, and training in the field of geospatial technology.
On this occasion, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted that the renewed MoU is a step forward in advancing academic and research cooperation in geospatial sciences. “This collaboration, which began with the initial signing on January 14, 2022, has already yielded significant results through joint workshops, expert lectures, and internship programs for students,” he said. “In the coming years, the focus will be on curriculum enhancement, field training, internships, placements, faculty development, and skill-building programs aligned with the latest trends and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.” Prof. Kumar expressed confidence that this partnership will not only enrich academic practices but also equip students with the necessary competencies to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of geospatial technology.Dr. Sultan Singh, Director of HARSAC, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in promoting awareness and practical knowledge of remote sensing and GIS technologies among students from diverse academic backgrounds.HARSAC, being a premier institute in the field of geospatial science in Haryana, is dedicated to developing cutting-edge geospatial solutions and providing real-world exposure through hands-on learning opportunities,” he said. Dr. Singh further added that the MoU will help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements by equipping students with the skills needed to meet the growing demand for geospatial professionals.
Prof. Jitendra Kumar, Nodal Officer of the MoU and faculty member in the Department of Geography, CUH, noted the growing relevance of geospatial technologies in everyday life. “From urban planning and weather forecasting to navigation and online delivery systems, geospatial tools are now integral to modern living. This partnership will enable students to gain practical exposure and enhance their employability through targeted training programs and internships offered by HARSAC.” The renewed MoU includes plans to jointly hold seminars, workshops, and training programs to strengthen geospatial capacity.
Prof. M.L. Meena, Head, Department of Geography stated that this collaboration will benefit students not only from the Departments of Geography and Geoinformatics but also from other related disciplines. Dr. Preeti, Ms. Bharti Duhan and Mr. Ameet from HARSAC were also present on the occasion of this partnership, which took place in the program organized at Gurugram.
