Member Parliament Manish Tewari inaugurates CCTV Surveillance System in Sector 41A under MPLAD Scheme
Chandigarh, June 7:- Sh. Manish Tewari, Member Parliament, Chandigarh today inaugurated CCTV cameras installed under the MPLAD Scheme in Sector 41A, Chandigarh in the presence of Area Councillor Sh. Hardeep Singh Buterla, senior officers of MCC, and prominent residents of the area.
Under this project, 22 high-resolution CCTV cameras have been strategically installed at various points in the locality to monitor the entry and exit of people and enhance overall safety. The system is supported by 5 Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) at different locations to ensure continuous and reliable surveillance. The project has been executed at an estimated cost of ₹5 lakh.
While sharing about the service rendered for the area residents, Sh. Hardeep Singh Buterla said that the initiative is aimed at improving public safety, deterring illegal activities, and aiding authorities in maintaining law and order. The cameras will also assist in better traffic management and timely response to any untoward incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Manish Tewari emphasized the importance of modern security infrastructure in residential areas and assured continued support for development works. Local residents appreciated the efforts of the MP, area councillor, and MCC in strengthening the safety framework of their neighborhood.

Chandigarh, June 7:- Sh. Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament, UT Chandigarh, today inaugurated the newly developed Green Belt Park in Sector 30-A in the presence of Sh. Jasbir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor, Smt. Taruna Mehta, Deputy Mayor and Area Councillor, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief Engineer, other councillor along with senior officials and prominent persons of the city.
While addressing the gathering, the MP said that the development of the park marks a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to provide inclusive, accessible, and eco-friendly recreational spaces. Spread across 3.5 acres, the Green Belt Park has been redeveloped under various funding heads, with a total investment exceeding ₹77.65 lakh.
He siad that under the Capital Head – Landscaping, the park now features 3 aesthetically designed huts for public rest, 40 durable steel pipe benches, and a wide variety of decorative plants, including golden cypress, ornamental shrubs, ground covers, and palm species—creating a lush, vibrant environment.
While briefing about the features of the green belt, Mrs. Taruna Mehta siad that a 1,250-meter-long cement concrete walking and jogging track, constructed under the Ward Development Fund, promotes health and wellness among residents. A modern public toilet block has also been added, ensuring hygiene and convenience for daily visitors.
She further said additionally, the Mayor Development Fund supported the construction of toewalls beneath existing M.S. flat railings in various parts of the park, enhancing safety and visual appeal.
She said to further encourage evening use, the entire area is now well-lit with 55 energy-efficient lights. A dedicated outdoor gym zone, equipped with 8 fitness units, has been installed to promote physical activity among all age groups.
This comprehensive initiative reflects the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to developing clean, green, and citizen-friendly public spaces. The Green Belt Park in Sector 30-A now stands as a model of sustainable urban development, providing a much-needed natural retreat for families, senior citizens, fitness enthusiasts, and children alike.

MC Chandigarh takes action against encroachments in Sector 15 Patel Market
Chandigarh, June 7:- Taking serious note of the increasing encroachments in market areas across the city, Municipal Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, has directed Joint Commissioner Sh. Sumeet Sihag to personally conduct surprise inspections to check unauthorized activities and restore public order.
Acting on these instructions, Joint Commissioner Sh. Sumeet Sihag conducted a surprise inspection this evening at Sector 15 Patel Market and the nearby vendors' site. During the drive, numerous illegal vendors were found occupying public pathways and market space, causing obstruction to pedestrian movement and inconvenience to both shoppers and shopkeepers.
As a result of the inspection, total 52 challans were issued on the spot to violators for illegal encroachments. The Joint Commissioner also instructed the enforcement staff and area supervisors to maintain strict vigilance and ensure that such violations do not reoccur.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh remains committed to keeping public spaces clean, safe, and accessible for all. Regular enforcement drives will continue in various market areas of the city, and strict penalties will be imposed on repeat offenders to maintain discipline and order in public places.
