Chandigarh, May 18 – A grand state-level function celebrating Shri Guru Gorakhnath Prakatotsav was held today in Sonipat under the 'Sant-Mahapurusha Samman Vichar Evam Prasar Yojana', an initiative by the Haryana Government aimed at spreading the teachings and ideals of saints and great personalities across all sections of society. Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini attended the event as the chief guest.
On the occasion, Sh Nayab Singh Saini paid homage to Shri Guru Gorakhnath Ji and expressed his gratitude for being part of the Prakatotsav celebrations. He said it was a matter of great fortune for him to participate in the event. Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the welfare and upliftment of every section of society, he said that the present government is working in line with the path shown by saints and revered figures. He further said that the primary goal of the government is to improve the standard of living of the poorest citizens.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced that a ‘Chowk’ in Sonipat would be named after Shri Guru Gorakhnath Ji. He also announced to give an amount of Rs. 31 lakh for the renovation of Dharamshalas of the Jogi community in the state. He also distributed 30 motorized tricycles to PwDs, out of 100 such tricycles given through the CSR fund of Indian Oil.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of four development projects worth approximately Rs104.05 crore. This included the foundation stone for three projects costing Rs 84.82 crore and the inauguration of one project worth Rs 19.23 crore.
India will not tolerate Terrorism: ‘Operation Sindoor’ symbolizes the dignity of the national soul
Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that today’s ceremony is being held at a time when the courage, dedication, and discipline demonstrated by our brave soldiers under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi in executing ‘Operation Sindoor’, stands not merely as a military action, but as a powerful symbol of the dignity and strength of our national spirit.
He said that in Pahalgam, terrorists cruelly targeted and killed innocent citizens of ourcountry. In response to the grief and sentiments of the entire nation, the Prime Minister said that the time had come to eliminate the remaining grounds of terrorism. Under Operation Sindoor, our armed forces struck at the roots of terrorism in Pakistan destroying key bases where where terrorism flourished. Within just three hours, our defense forces successfully neutralized these terror hubs, and through this swift and decisive operation, the world has witnessed the strength and resolve of Indian Armed Forces.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has sent a clear message to the international community that India will not tolerate terrorism in any form. "Today, the entire nation stands firmly with Modi ji, and with the Indian Armed Forces," he affirmed.
The teachings of saints are a valuable heritage of human society; it is our collective responsibility to preserve and uphold this legacy
Describing India as the land of sages and saints, Chief Minister said that countless saints and great personalities have guided humanity by showing the true path of life. The teachings of these revered figures are a shared heritage of society, and it is the collective responsibility of all citizens to preserve and promote this legacy. He said that after the formation of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi in 2014, the Haryana Government launched the ‘Sant-Mahapurusha Samman Vichar Evam Prasar Yojana’ with the aim of disseminating the messages and teachings of saints and spiritual leaders. The state-level celebration of Shri Guru Gorakhnath Ji’s birth anniversary, held today, is part of this very initiative.
The Chief Minister further said that Shri Guru Gorakhnath Ji played a pivotal role in taking the knowledge of yoga to every household. Inspired by his path, Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi initiated efforts to promote yoga on a global scale. As a result of these efforts, in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 21st June as International Yoga Day. Today, yoga is recognized and embraced by countries across the world as an exemplary practice.
He said that in Haryana, the state has actively encouraged the younger generation to embrace yoga. From the academic session 2022–23, yoga education has been made a compulsory subject from Class 1 to 10. Yoga is also being taught in the colleges and universities of the state. To institutionalize these efforts, the government has established the Haryana Yoga Commission. To further extend the reach of yoga into rural areas, the government is setting up yoga and vyayamshalas in villages. So far, 687 vyayamshalas have been made operational, with work underway on an additional 300.
Highlighting various welfare schemes being implemented for the welfare of backward classes, the Chief Minister said that it is the government’s responsibility to make people’s lives simpler and more dignified. He affirmed the government's continued commitment to the vision of Antyodaya Utthan, uplifting the last person in the line.
Ensuring inclusive progress and equal rights for people of all communities is the core objective of the government
Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that Guru Gorakhnath Ji taught the fundamental values of equality and harmony, emphasizing that there should be no discrimination on the basis of community, caste, opinion, or creed. Inspired by these teachings, and under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government is committed to the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.” The government’s goal is to ensure that people from all communities and castes progress together, with equal opportunities and rights in society. “Our continuous efforts are focused on guaranteeing access to quality education, healthcare, security, and self-reliance for every individual,” he added.
Celebrating birth anniversaries of great personalities from all communities fostering unity - Dr. Arvind Sharma
Heritage and Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma said that the Haryana Government has initiated the tradition of celebrating the birth anniversaries of saints and great men from all communities, which is playing a significant role in strengthening social harmony and brotherhood. He said that today’s programme has been organized as part of this ongoing initiative. He said that Shri Guru Gorakhnath Ji was form of Lord Shiva and a pioneer of yoga. He said that Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini envisions a society where every individual receives their due share, and under this inclusive vision, the government is ensuring equal rights for all sections. As a result of the Chief Minister's efforts, birth anniversaries of great personalities from all communities are now being celebrated, with active participation from all 36 communities, thus fostering unity and brotherhood across the state.

Chandigarh, May 18 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, while making a series of announcements for the Mahendragarh Assembly constituency, declared that 1,450 tubewell connections will be issued within the next three months to farmers who have already deposited payments. He further urged farmers who applied for connections up to 2023 to deposit the requisite amount at the earliest, so that their connections will also be issued soon.
The Chief Minister made these announcements while addressing a public meeting in Mahendragarh today.
Sh Nayab Singh Saini announced the establishment of a new grain market in Mahendragarh Assembly. He also stated that a cow sanctuary will be established in any village where suitable land is available. In addition, upon availability of land in the villages of Usmapur, Barda, Khatod or Jadwa, a veterinary dispensary and hospital will be constructed. For this purpose, he announced Rs 1.51 crore. Moreover, the existing animal dispensary in Degrota village will be upgraded to a veterinary hospital at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. To establish a government VLDA college, he said that feasibility of the same in the region will also be examined.
The Chief Minister announced that a new electricity sub-division will be established in Akoda village. Furthermore, the high-tension power lines running over residential areas will be removed, for which Rs 3 crore has been announced.
He also announced to set up two 33 KV substations, one in Dalanwas village and another in Mahendragarh city. Power supply will be provided to 56 colonies in the Mahendragarh Assembly segment. In Mahendragarh town, LT cables will replace existing LT lines, and the non-functional 33 KV line between Mahendragarh and Narnaul will be removed. In terms of healthcare infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a Primary Health Centre in the Khatod village panchayat area, subject to land availability.
For irrigation, he announced Rs 6.60 crore for the reconstruction of four minors: Nihalwas, Jairpur, Sisoth, and Khaira. Road infrastructure will also receive a significant boost, with 180 km of roads to be strengthened. Special repair works will be carried out on 7 roads totaling 36.85 km by June. An additional 16 roads, spanning 78.71 km, will be strengthened under special repair, with Rs 44.53 crore.
He also announced Rs 5.38 crore for the repair and renovation of schools in 18 villages of Mahendragarh assembly. Furthermore, a sub-depot of Haryana Roadways will be established in Mahendergarh. He also announced Rs 5 crore for development works in villages in the Mahendragarh Assembly constituency.
On this occasion, in a major boost to infrastructure, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 30 development projects worth Rs 152.87 crore. This includes the inauguration of 15 projects amounting to Rs 81.49 crore and the foundation laying of 15 projects worth Rs 71.39 crore.

The Chief Minister said that this land is a land of brave soldiers. Veerbhoomi Naseebpur, located just 20 km from here, holds a place of pride in the history of India's first freedom struggle. In 1857, when the British sought to tighten their oppressive grip over India, it was the valiant Rao Tularam from this very land who shook the foundations of British rule. He said that the sons of this soil have consistently brought glory to both the nation and the state be it during the freedom movement or the wars of 1962, 1965, 1971, and 1999. Through Operation Sindoor, our brave soldiers have demonstrated to the world that India will not tolerate any provocation, India will respond with strength and resolve.

Detailing the region's developmental progress, the Chief Minister shared that since 2014, development projects worth Rs1,570 crore have been carried out in the Mahendragarh Assembly constituency. In contrast, during the 10-year tenure of the previous Congress government, only Rs 700 crore worth of development work was done. Our double-engine government has delivered more than double the development. Now, with a triple-engine government in place, we will accelerate progress at three times the speed. He reaffirmed his commitment, stating, “I will leave no stone unturned to ensure the holistic development of Mahendragarh.”
Developed Haryana will lead the way in building a Developed India by 2047
Sh Nayab Singh Saini reiterated the vision of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi to build a 'Developed India' by 2047, asserting that Haryana will serve as a key engine of this national transformation. He expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for giving the government a third consecutive mandate. Of the promises made in our election manifesto, 22 have already been fulfilled, and work is actively underway on 90 others. “Our manifesto is not just a declaration, but a solemn promise to the people,” he added.
He further said that under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we are advancing with clarity of purpose, intent, and policy. Our government has taken several concrete steps toward the all-round development of the state. We are committed to achieving balanced growth across all regions of Haryana. He called upon citizens to unite in taking Haryana to new heights, and in doing so, contribute to the creation of a fully developed India by 2047.
Our Armed Forces response to the Pahalgam attack makes every Indian proud –Shruti Chaudhary
Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Mrs. Shruti Chaudhary praised the bravery and dedication of the youth from South Haryana, stating that they have always stood guard at the borders and shed their blood to protect the nation. Referring to the recent Pahalgam attack, she said, "Our armed forces has given a fitting response, and every Indian feels proud of their courage and commitment."
Speaking about development in Haryana, she said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, the state is witnessing a wave of all-round development. She said that numerous water projects worth crores of rupees have been sanctioned for South Haryana with the Chief Minister’s approval. Highlighting the government's commitment to ensuring water access to the tail-end of canal systems in the region, she informed that a project worth Rs 13.06 crore has been initiated for the revival of the Dohan and Krishna River. Additionally, water supply projects totaling Rs 55 crore have been launched for 18 villages, including Jadwa, Satnali, Bawana, Kheda, and Khedi.

Health Minister Kumari Aarti Singh Rao, while addressing a rally, proudly described South Haryana as the “land of heroes,” adding that a large number of the nation’s soldiers hail from this region. She lauded the bravery of Indian armed forces, stating that through Operation Sindoor, terrorist hideouts in Pakistan were successfully destroyed, a feat made possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi. The patriotic march, dedicated to the valor and heroism of the Indian Armed Forces, began at Maharana Pratap Chowk and concluded at the Shaheed Smarak near the Mini Secretariat. The event saw enthusiastic participation from civilians, ex-servicemen, youth, and women. Among the notable attendees were Rewari MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, Bawal MLA Dr. Krishna Kumar, Kosli MLA Anil Yadav, BJP District President Vandana Popli, and former Minister Dr. Banwari Lal.
