CHANDIGARH, 16.05.25-Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh, organized a lecture on the New Education Policy today. Panjab University's NEP Cell Coordinator, Prof Dr Anil Monga, delivered an interactive lecture on the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr Monga additionally holds the position of Professor and Chairperson at the Centre for Police Administration within the University Institute of Emerging Areas in Social Sciences
As a distinguished academician and administrator, Dr Monga highlighted the policy's innovative elements, focusing on holistic education, flexibility, technology integration, local language emphasis, and sensitizing students about India’s culture and heritage. He mentioned the Curriculum and Credit Framework offers two-stream options, which enable students to choose from two streams that complement each other, enabling students to choose from multidisciplnary courses, Skill Enhancement courses and Value -Added courses, Panjab University has developed 166 MDCs, 151 SECs, and 156 VAC courses as of now.
The policy has the potential to transform the higher education ecosystem in India. Adopting NEP in its true spirit requires careful planning and execution. The challenges it comes with are arranging internships for every student and adopting learning- centric pedagogical approaches. College Principal Dr Ajay Sharma stated that stakeholder engagement, deliberations, and planning have led to the smooth implementation of NEP in our college. The college is actively promoting NEP 2020 through lectures, orientation programs, and curriculum reforms. A framework has been laid out for internships, ensuring a structured approach by collaborating with government agencies and portals, with alumni, NGO’s in facilitating internships. Over 1200 students from our college have enrolled on government portals," added Dr Sharma
