Chandigarh, May 12:In a strong move towards maintaining public order and clearing encroachments, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a major enforcement drive in Manimajra (Sector 13), resulting in the issuance of 145 challans.
The drive was conducted under the directions of the Hon'ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana and the supervision of MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, led by Joint Commissioner Sh. Sumeet Sihag and Superintendent, Sh. Sunil Dutt accompanied by other enforcement Inspectors and supporting staff.
Starting early in the morning at 6 AM, the drive continued till 2 PM, with support from a well-coordinated task force comprising 12 trucks, 1 JCB, 2 Hydra cranes, and 8 enforcement personnel. The Chandigarh Police were also deputed to assist in ensuring law and order during the operation.
Breakdown of Challans Issued:
* 105 challans for unauthorized mechanic tools, iron materials, and large boxes
* 10 challans for dumped/abandoned vehicles
* 30 challans for other encroachments including benches and iron gas kits

The entire operation was peaceful and was fully documented through videography for official records and transparency.
Offenders were served warnings, and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation has clearly stated that any repeat violations will lead to strict legal action as per the provisions of the Municipal Act.
