“Saints are the true custodians of our culture” – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij
Saints have been carrying forward the eternal values (Sanatan) and knowledge across centuries and ages – Anil Vij
A human being needs religion, and true knowledge of religion can only come from a saint – Vij
Chandigarh, August 4 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said today, “Saints are the custodians of our culture. It is saints who have preserved and spread Sanatan values and knowledge across centuries. Just as a man needs food, he also needs religion — and that true understanding of religion can only come from a saint.”
Sh. Vij was speaking to media persons today in Chandigarh in response to their questions.
He said that“There’s a vast difference between a saint and a storyteller (kathavachak). Anyone can read four books and become a kathavachak, but that doesn’t mean they possess complete spiritual knowledge.” Referring to the recent remarks made by Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj about women, he said, “Such statements cannot be accepted by our religion, our culture, or our country under any circumstance.”
Explaining the true meaning of a saint, Sh. Vij said that “A saint is one who, after renouncing worldly desires, freeing themselves from the traps of illusion (maya), performing penance, and attaining scriptural knowledge, connects their soul with the Divine. That’s where true wisdom lies.”
He added that “Many people do go to kathavachaks for listening, and if it’s for entertainment, then that’s fine. But if someone is truly in search of knowledge, then they must seek a saint. I’m not here to declare who is a saint and who is a kathavachak — that’s for each individual to decide using their own discretion.”
He further reiterated that “religion also is hunger to a person, religion too is a human necessity. But true religious knowledge can only be acquired from a saint — not from a kathavachak.”
Clarifying his stance, he said that “I’m not stopping anyone from listening to kathas (spiritual discourses), nor am I imposing any restrictions. But as per my understanding, there is a difference between a saint and a kathavachak. Still, every individual has the right to make their own decision.”

“Punjab should respect the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and construct the canal to provide water” – Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij
“When Haryana gets its share of water, it will quench people’s thirst and irrigate parched farmlands too” – Anil Vij
“To spoil relations between Haryana and Punjab, Punjab repeatedly takes such steps so that Haryana doesn’t receive its rightful share of water” – Vij
“Punjab is making no effort to stop water from flowing into Pakistan” – Vij
Chandigarh, August 4 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that “Punjab should honour the Supreme Court’s decision by constructing the canal and ensuring water supply so that people’s thirst is quenched and the dried-up fields can also get irrigation.”
Sh. Vij was responding to a question asked by the media persons today regarding the ongoing issue and meetings between Punjab and Haryana over the SYL (Sutlej-Yamuna Link) canal.
He said that “Earlier, Haryana and Punjab were one state, and everything was shared between us. But after Haryana became a separate state, our rights also became clear. We have equal rights over the water. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has already ruled in favour of Haryana, yet Punjab keeps taking such steps that damage relations and deny Haryana its fair share of water.” Meanwhile, he said that“water is flowing into Pakistan — something Punjab seems to accept — but the Punjab government is not making any effort to stop this wastage.”
He further said that “The Central Government has spoken about revoking the Indus Waters Treaty, because the agreement made by the then government was wrong — giving away 80% of water to Pakistan and ignoring our own dry fields. Then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru himself went to Pakistan to sign that treaty. But the Sindhu River is ours, and it’s from drinking the water of Sindhu that we became Hindus.”
He said that “The Centre is working to block that water, but Punjab is doing nothing to stop the flow of water into Pakistan,” he said. “Even the land acquired for the canal has been denotified by Punjab, and the agreement was cancelled by calling a session of their Vidhan Sabha, he said.”
Sh. Vij questioned that“Punjab’s culture is to install water stalls (chhabeels), to serve water to the thirsty — how can Punjab forget that very culture?”

“The present state government is making full efforts to resolve the issues of sewage and waterlogging etc. in Millennium City Gurugram” – Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Sh.Anil Vij
“The government is getting plans made by engineers because constructing drains in an already-developed city is a difficult task” – Anil Vij
“Due to the failure of the then Congress government to make proper plans, the people of Gurugram are facing these problems today” – Vij
Chandigarh, August 4 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that the present state government is making every possible effort to resolve the issues of sewage and waterlogging in Millennium City Gurugram. The state government is preparing plans through engineers, because it is difficult to construct drains in a city that is already built, but the government is working on this seriously. He added that it is because of the lack of planning by the previous Congress government that the people of Gurugram are suffering today.
Sh. Vij was responding to questions asked media persons in Chandigarh regarding Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala raising concerns about waterlogging and garbage problems in Gurugram.
He said that whenever a city is developed, basic infrastructure must be established in advance. Drains, sewer lines, and drinking water pipelines are supposed to be laid first. But at the time when Gurugram started developing, the Congress government was in power, and Surjewala ji should go and check the records regarding that time.
Attacking the Congress, he said that had they understood that a city was coming up alongside Delhi, they should have built drains and roads in advance. Planning should have been done beforehand, but it wasn’t — and now the people are suffering today.
