Chandigarh, 20 March: The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an expert lecture on “Making it to IAS” to guide students on the preparation strategies and career prospects in the civil services. The insightful session was conducted by Mr. Raj Malhotra, Founder and Director of Raj Malhotra’s IAS Study Group.

Drawing upon over two decades of experience in mentoring civil services aspirants, Mr. Malhotra provided valuable insights into the preparation process for examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and various State Public Service Commissions. He elaborated on the structure and stages of the Civil Services Examination, emphasising the need for conceptual clarity, a well-planned strategy, effective time management, and sustained consistency. Highlighting the evolving demands of the examination, he underscored the importance of analytical thinking, strong command over current affairs, and effective communication skills, particularly for the personality test stage. His practical guidance and real-life examples helped students better understand both the challenges and opportunities associated with a career in civil services. The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 100 students, who actively engaged in the interactive session and gained meaningful clarity regarding their career aspirations.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the initiative of the department and encouraged students to pursue their goals with dedication, discipline, and perseverance, emphasising that focused effort and resilience are key to success in competitive examinations.
