Chandigarh, 29 October: NSS Units and Department of Political Science at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a series of events to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the initiative ‘Sardar@150’.

The celebrations began with a national level Online Quiz based on the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The quiz sought to familiarise participants with Patel’s visionary leadership and his pivotal role in the integration of princely states, inspiring young minds with his enduring ideals of unity, integrity, and nation-building. This was followed by a ‘Padh Yatra’, a symbolic unity march promoting national integration and collective responsibility. Enthusiastic NSS volunteers participated with placards and slogans that echoed the timeless values of harmony, solidarity, and patriotism in contemporary India. The day culminated with an expert session by Dr. Neha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of History. In her address, Dr. Sharma highlighted Sardar Patel’s statesmanship and his unparalleled contribution to uniting India, urging students to draw inspiration from his courage, selfless service, and commitment to national unity.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the initiative and underscored Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in shaping modern India. She encouraged students to imbibe his values of determination, patriotism, and unity, observing that such commemorative events foster national pride and civic responsibility among the youth.
