The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, launched a national-level campaign titled Peya Parv on Thursday, on health and heritage through traditional Indian beverages. The event was inaugurated under the leadership and guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Registrar Prof. Suneel Kumar, and First Lady of the University Prof. Sunita Srivastava.
The campaign aims to promote the cultural significance of traditional Indian drinks and explore the entrepreneurial opportunities they present. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to raise awareness about indigenous beverages and inspire youth to consider them as avenues for entrepreneurship and employment.”
Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, the program convenor emphasized the rich legacy of Indian beverages, noting that several traditional drinks are both nutritious and relevant to today’s lifestyle. “It is time we take conscious steps to revive and popularize these drinks,” he added.
Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro-Vice Chancellor appreciated the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such drinks in Indian tradition. He praised the organizers and expressed hope that the campaign would enhance public interest and acceptance of traditional beverages. He also mentioned their scientific value, particularly in early childhood care.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar addressed the participants, underlining the potential of the beverage market and encouraging students to think innovatively and consider entrepreneurship in this field. “With the growing demand in this market, there are numerous opportunities for business development,” he remarked.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Surender Kumar. He acknowledged the active contributions of organizing secretary Prof. Pawan Kumar Maurya, Prof. Ranbir Singh, co-organizing secretaries Dr. Alekh S. Nayak, Dr. Anoop Yadav, Dr. Neeraj Karn Singh, Dr. Jitendra, and Dr. Umesh Kumar. As part of the celebration, participating students enjoyed a variety of traditional Indian drinks, including Rabri, Lassi, Nimbu Shikanji, Jaljeera, and Thandai.
