CHANDIGARH, 01.05.25-The Research Promotion Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an intra-college declamation contest on the topic ‘Role of Women Scientists in Research’. The aim of the contest was to celebrate the invaluable contribution of women scientists who have shaped the world of science with their brilliance, dedication and perseverance, and to inspire the young minds to pursue research and innovation.
A total of 25 students participated in the event, where each participant was given three to four minutes to speak in any one of the three languages i.e. English, Hindi, or Punjabi. The evaluation was based on content, delivery, expressions, and overall impact. Tanvi Ghai (B.Sc. I, Non-medical) secured the first position, followed by Ritika Sharma (B.A II) in second place, while Saanvi Gupta (B.A III) and Asmita (B.Com II) shared the third position. Nancy (B.A I) and Seerat (B.Sc. I, Computer Applications) received consolation prizes.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma expressed appreciation for this initiative of the Research Promotion Cell to bring forth inspiring stories of the trailblazer women scientists and their ground breaking work that will motivate students to pursue research with passion and commitment.
