MAHENDERGARH, 30.30.25-The Legal Literacy Society of the Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, organized a Legal Literacy Camp in Village Sisoth, District Mahendergarh, to sensitize school-going children and elderly residents about cybercrimes and empower them with preventive measures. As part of the initiative, law students performed an impactful street play (Nukkad Natak) on cyber fraud reporting, effectively portraying how vulnerable villagers and children often fall prey to online scams, leading to financial losses and other crimes.
Dr. Pardeep Singh, Head and Dean of the School of Law, emphasized the department’s commitment to social causes while addressing the students before the camp. He highlighted the rising threat of cybercrimes in the digital age, where fraudsters exploit unsuspecting citizens, particularly the elderly and children, through deceptive tactics. Stressing the need for awareness, he stated that the Department of Law is initiating such legal literacy camps to educate nearby communities, with more events planned in the future. Students also distributed stationary items and informative pamphlets specially designed for the campaign. Law students also did a quick career counselling of the students.
Dr. Singh further noted that under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, the University is actively engaging in initiatives that align with its mission of fostering community partnerships and knowledge-sharing beyond academic excellence. Quoting the Vice-Chancellor, he reiterated that universities must collaborate with neighboring villages to create and disseminate knowledge, alongside contributing to global research and development. The camp saw active participation from LLB first-year students, along with Dr. Jyotsna and Dr. Praveen, who played a key role in its success.
