Ludhiana 27 March 2024-Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organised one day Animal Husbandry Officers’ workshop wherein more than 100 Veterinary officers and Animal Science specialists from different Krishi Vigyan Kendra participated.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of alternative medicine in veterinary services and stressed on line department convergence. He informed that Veterinary University has started a Diploma in Veterinary Homeopathy in online mode. Dr G. S. Bedi, Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, Punjab stressed on developing standard operating procedures for outbreak and discussed the role of veterinarians in prevention of diseases.

Dr Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education appraised that such workshops help to refresh the knowledge of field functionaries and brush them up on the latest techniques developed by researchers and institutes . Dr Brar thanked for financial support provided by ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) to hold this workshop.

Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director ATARI advised participants to carry out problem oriented research. Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, HoD, Department of Veterinary Medicine highlighted the role of oral magnet feeding in prevention of Traumatic reticulo-pericarditis in ruminants (when an animal ingests a metallic object, 'Hardware Disease' ) . Dr Swaran Singh Randhawa, Director, Teaching Veterinary Clinics discussed Bovine lameness- its diagnosis and management. Dr Pankaj Dhaka, Centre for One health discussed Bio security fundamentals to combat antimicrobial resistances. Dr R S Grewal, Director livestock farm appraised about quality fodder and silage production. Dr Arun Anand, Professor, Veterinary Surgery discussed colic in horses.
