CHANDIGARH,11.09.22-Dr.Sunil Sethi Professor, in Deptt of Microbiology , PGIMER chandigarh has been honoured with prestigious “Silver Jubilee Oration of Institute of Venereology” in National Conference of Indian association for study of Sexually transmitted Infections and AIDS( ASTICON 2022) held a Hyderabad from 9^th to 11 september 2022 for his continuous ,sustained meritorious academic services in the field of STD / HIV AIDS.He was honoured with silver medal during the Conference. He delivered a talk on “Molecular diagnosis of STI with special reference to Mycoplasma genitalium”

Dr. Sethi has established molecular methods to diagnose these unusual Mycoplasma genitalium and other STI pathogens which are difficult to treat. The Prevalence of these organism in India is not known and people are suffering silently as these are not suspected by clinicians and also not diagnosed by labs. In west prevalence of this organism is 10-50% and drug resistance is also being reported and patients are getting appropriate treatment . Dr. sethi is creating awareness among clinicians about these STI in India so that this disease can be treated.
