Chandigarh, August 4 - In a major consumer-focused initiative, the Haryana Government is set to bring food safety testing directly to people's neighbourhoods by reviving five Food Safety on Wheels mobile laboratories and expanding the fleet with 28 new Mobile Food Testing Laboratory (MFTL) vans. The initiative will allow citizens to get food samples tested at their doorstep for a nominal charge of Rs. 20 per sample, making scientific food testing more accessible than ever.

Sharing details, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra, said the initiative is aimed at protecting consumers from adulterated and substandard food while strengthening food safety surveillance across the state. She said the restored mobile laboratories will help people verify the quality of food products they consume and enhance public confidence in the state's food safety system.

The five Food Safety on Wheels vans, stationed at Panchkula, Karnal, Hisar, Sonipat and Rewari, will be brought back into operation after undergoing complete restoration. Originally supplied under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) programme, the vehicles had become non-functional over time because of mechanical wear and damage to their laboratory infrastructure.

Dr. Misra said the mobile laboratories will enable on-the-spot testing of food samples during inspections, festivals, markets, schools, colleges, fairs and special enforcement drives. Citizens will also be able to get samples of commonly consumed food items tested in their localities without visiting laboratories, making food safety services easily accessible.

The restoration project will involve complete refurbishment of the vehicles as well as the sophisticated laboratory infrastructure inside them, including scientific testing equipment, workstations, plumbing, electrical systems and vehicle components. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 33.79 lakh.

To further strengthen food safety surveillance, the FDA Department is also in the final stage of procuring 28 new Mobile Food Testing Laboratory vans for the National Capital Region (NCR) through the Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited (HMSCL) with financial assistance from the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). Once operational, these laboratories will significantly expand doorstep food testing services across the region.

Dr. Misra said the expanded mobile testing network will not only improve enforcement under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, but also create greater awareness among consumers and encourage food business operators to comply with food safety standards.

Meanwhile, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Haryana has intensified enforcement during the festive season by launching a special drive against adulteration in Ghewar and Firni ahead of Teej and Raksha Bandhan.

Between July 16 and August 2, Food Safety Officers collected 122 samples of Ghewar and Firni from across the state. Of the 18 samples analysed so far, 15 have met prescribed food safety standards, while three samples have been found non-conforming. The remaining samples are under laboratory examination.

Officials also said selected samples labelled as being prepared with Desi Ghee have been sent to NABL-accredited laboratories to scientifically verify the claims and ensure consumers are not misled through false branding.

Dr. Sumita Misra said the state's strategy combines doorstep scientific testing, stronger enforcement and consumer awareness to build a safer food ecosystem, enabling people to make informed choices while protecting public health.

Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the Congress had always pursued vote-bank politics and used the poor, backward classes and Scheduled Castes merely for political gains. Referring to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, he said a leader who had stood firmly with the Punjab Congress during difficult times was now being sidelined by his own party. In a way, the Congress has insulted Dalits and other deprived sections of society. It is unfortunate, he said.

Responding to a question on the NEET paper leak case, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Union Government had taken decisive action, while the Congress and the INDIA alliance had consistently sought to mislead the youth on the issue. He said Prime Minister, Sh. Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said today's generation had not witnessed the conditions that prevailed during the Congress regime. Recruitment processes lacked transparency and candidates often had to travel on the roofs of buses merely to appear for examinations, he said. Even when question papers were leaked, there was hardly any accountability, leaving young aspirants to bear the consequences. He said that the Congress had ignored the future of the youth for years in pursuit of vote-bank politics. The people of the country, he added, now understood the politics of the Congress and the INDIA alliance and would no longer be misled by them, said the Chief Minister.

*CM Questions Congress, AAP over Punjab Recruitment Examinations

Replying to a question on the Punjab Assembly's resolution condemning paper leaks, the Chief Minister questioned whether the Punjab Government had adopted a similar resolution over the recent pharmacy examination paper leak in the State.

Referring to the recently declared recruitment examination results in Punjab, he said the names of several successful candidates had themselves raised serious questions and reflected the concerns being expressed by the State's youth over the fairness of the recruitment process.

The Chief Minister said the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party should answer the youth on issues relating to recruitment examinations. Recalling an earlier statement by AAP leader Manish Sisodia that the Punjab Education Minister would resign if a paper leak occurred in the State, he said the silence over recent incidents clearly exposed the gap between the party's words and actions.

He further said that Rahul Gandhi should first explain what the Congress had done for the country's youth during its years in power.

*Bharti Roko Gang' Won't Be Allowed to Derail Recruitment- CM

Responding to a question on the time taken to complete recruitment processes, the Chief Minister said certain elements in the State were actively working as part of what he described as the "Bharti Roko Gang." He said such vested interests repeatedly attempted to obstruct transparent recruitment by creating unnecessary hurdles. However, he asserted that the government would not allow any conspiracy to derail a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment process.

The Chief Minister said the present double-engine government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, had created new employment opportunities for the youth while ensuring transparency and merit in recruitment. Today, deserving candidates were getting opportunities without any discrimination, he added.

*CM Recalls Hooda Era's 'Padak Lao, Pad Pao' Culture

Replying to another question, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that during the Congress government, the prevailing approach towards sportspersons was summed up by the phrase "Padak Lao, Pad Pao."

He said that if the sports policy pursued during the tenure of former Chief Minister, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda had indeed been as effective as claimed, Haryana and the country would have produced record-breaking medal performances even then. Instead, he said, it was under the present government that sportspersons were receiving recognition and encouragement purely based on their talent and achievements.

The Chief Minister said the State Government would soon organise a felicitation ceremony to honour Haryana's medal winners at the Commonwealth Games. He said Haryana's impressive medal tally was the outcome of the State's progressive sports policy. More than 2,000 sports nurseries were currently nurturing talent across Haryana, ensuring that young athletes received training and support from the grassroots level. Congratulating the medal winners, their parents and coaches, he said their achievements had once again brought laurels to Haryana and further strengthened the State's reputation as India's sporting powerhouse.

*Those Found Involved in Corruption Won't Be Posted in the Same District- CM

Responding to another question, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the State Government's policy on corruption was clear and uncompromising. Any officer or employee found involved in corruption would not be posted in the same district or on the same post, he said.

Reiterating the government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Chief Minister said strict action was being taken in every such case without any discrimination. He asserted that the government remained firmly committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and clean governance.

Chandigarh, August 4- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the State Government will organise this year's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on an unprecedented scale with greater public participation to mark Independence Day-2026. He said the campaign would not remain confined to hoisting the National Flag but would evolve into a mass movement aimed at fostering patriotism, national unity, social harmony and deepening respect for the sacrifices made during India's freedom struggle.

The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference on Tuesday on the programmes being organised under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Vande Mataram, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, and the 650th Prakash Parv of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj.

Congratulating Indian athletes on their outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said India had demonstrated its sporting excellence on the global stage by winning 39 medals. He attributed the achievement to the sports promotion policies of the Government of India and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi for providing strong support to Indian athletes.

Expressing pride over Haryana's contribution, the Chief Minister said that of India's 39 medals, 10 were won by athletes from Haryana. Of the country's 13 gold medals, seven were bagged by Haryana sportspersons, including five gold medals won by women athletes, bringing immense pride to the State. Congratulating the athletes, their families and coaches, he said Haryana's progressive sports policy, coupled with the dedication of its players, had firmly established the State as the sporting capital of the country.

Referring to the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative launched by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi in 2022, the Chief Minister said the campaign had now grown into a nationwide people's movement. Earlier, the National Flag was largely confined to government buildings, but today citizens across the country proudly hoist the Tricolour at their homes as an expression of their patriotism and respect for the nation.

He said this year's campaign has been dedicated to 150 years of the composition of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. The song inspired lakhs of Indians during the freedom struggle with the spirit of patriotism, sacrifice and dedication, and continues to motivate younger generations to remain connected with the country's glorious history.

The Chief Minister said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign would reach every village, town, ward and household across Haryana from August 9 to 17. He said active participation would be ensured from all government departments, educational institutions, universities, industries, voluntary organisations, youth clubs, sports associations and social organisations.

Appealing to the people of Haryana to participate wholeheartedly, he urged farmers to hoist the National Flag at their farms and homes, traders at their business establishments, employees in their offices, and every family at their residences so that the campaign becomes a true people's movement.

The Chief Minister said the participation of youth and students would be the greatest strength of the campaign. Schools and colleges across the State will organise exhibitions highlighting the history of the National Flag and Vande Mataram. Essay writing, painting, speech and quiz competitions, patriotic song contests, and programmes based on the lives of local freedom fighters will also be organised to familiarise the younger generation with India's freedom movement and its national values.

He further informed that Tiranga Yatras, motorcycle rallies, bicycle rallies and e-bike rallies would be organised throughout the State. The routes of these rallies would pass through local martyrs' memorials, freedom fighters' memorials and historically significant sites, enabling citizens to reconnect with their local history and the contributions of the nation's brave sons and daughters.

The Chief Minister said that a grand Tiranga Concert based on the Vande Mataram theme will be organised at Mahendragarh on August 9, featuring patriotic musical performances and collective rendition of Vande Mataram.

During the campaign, special exhibitions will also be organised at railway stations, public parks, libraries, auditoriums, schools, colleges and other prominent public places. In addition, citizens will be encouraged to participate in the 'Selfie with Tiranga' digital campaign by uploading their photographs on the Har Ghar Tiranga Portal. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to upload their selfies in large numbers and spread the message of patriotism across the country.

Calling upon citizens to uphold the dignity of the National Flag, the Chief Minister urged everyone to hoist the Tricolour in accordance with the Flag Code of India. He advised people not to use damaged or soiled flags and to preserve the National Flag with due respect after the conclusion of the campaign.

The Chief Minister further shared that ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ (Partition Horrors Remembrance Day) would be observed across Haryana on August 14. A State-level function will be held at Gurugram, while district-level programmes will also be organised throughout the State. Families affected by the Partition will be invited to participate in these events. Exhibitions, interactive sessions and candlelight silent marches will be organised to pay homage to the lakhs of people who lost their lives or endured the trauma of displacement during Partition, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has launched the 'Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' to commemorate the 650th Prakash Parv of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, which will continue till February 20, 2027. He said the objective of the campaign is to take the message of equality, service, devotion, social justice and social harmony propagated by Sant Guru Ravidas Ji to the last person in society.

He informed that the sacred Kalash Yatra, which commenced from the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji at Varanasi, has already reached Haryana. The Kalash will be taken to every village, town and settlement across the State so that the message of social harmony reaches every section of society.

The Chief Minister further informed that the 'Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Yatra' will be organised from October 5 to November 5, beginning from Dera Sach Khand Ballan, Jalandhar (Punjab) and culminating at the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji in Varanasi. The Yatra will pass through several States and will disseminate the message of equality, service, social justice and humanity on a large scale.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the coming fortnight would stand as a symbol of patriotism, social harmony and historical consciousness in Haryana. Expressing confidence that people across the State would participate enthusiastically in all three major initiatives, Har Ghar Tiranga, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, and the Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan, he said such collective participation would further strengthen the spirit of national unity, social harmony and nation-building.

Chandigarh, August 4 – Haryana's Forest and Environment Minister Rao Narbir Singh said this year, World Environment Day and Van Mahotsav have proven historic for the state in many ways. People turned tree plantation into a public movement, not only ensuring their participation in environmental protection but also demonstrating their responsibility towards nature. Expressing gratitude to the people of the state, he called upon everyone to plant at least two saplings under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' and 'Ek Ped Apne Naam' and to protect them until they grow into full trees.

He said that the monsoon is the most suitable time for planting saplings and sowing seeds. Our goal should not just be planting saplings, but nurturing them regularly until they become trees. Just as a mother cares for her child in the early years, every person must take care of the sapling they plant for 5-6 years.

Rao Narbir Singh said that climate change has today become a serious challenge for the entire world. To tackle this challenge, the Haryana government has for the first time made a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore for the Green Climate Resilience Fund. A target has been set to plant 2.10 crore saplings in the state, while the planting of an additional 20 lakh saplings has also been approved under the CAMPA scheme.

He said that Van Mahotsav, which began in 1950, has today become a national campaign for environmental protection. This year, on the occasion of the 77th Van Mahotsav and World Environment Day, the widespread participation of people in programmes organized at the state and district levels has given new strength to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve for a Green India. Haryana will play an important role in the goal of Viksit Bharat-2047, and with this objective in mind, the state government is preparing action plans up to the year 2030 in line with the Viksit Haryana document.

The Forest Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana government is prioritizing environmental protection, green energy, clean transportation, and climate-friendly development. The government's aim is not just economic growth, but also to give future generations a clean environment and a better life.

He said the proposed Green Climate Resilience Fund will promote zero-emission vehicles, renewable energy, energy efficiency, water conservation, urban greening, climate-friendly agriculture, and nature-based solutions. This will give new momentum to innovation and investment in the field of environmental protection, alongside pollution control.

Free 'Home Stay' Training for Youth in Haryana

Applications can be submitted till August 16

Chandigarh, August 4 – The Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, functioning under Haryana Government's Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, has launched an important initiative to connect the state's youth with new opportunities for employment and self-employment. With the aim of promoting the tourism and hospitality sector, the department has decided to provide free 'Home Stay' training to youth in all districts of the state, for which applications are being invited from eligible candidates.

A government spokesperson, providing information about this, said that under this scheme, youth of the state aged 15 to 29 years will be eligible to apply for home stay training. The main objective of this training programme is to familiarize the state's rural and urban youth with the nuances of the home stay business and make them self-reliant. Interested and eligible candidates who wish to participate in this training programme can submit their application forms at their respective district nodal ITI (Industrial Training Institute) from August 4, 2026, to August 16, 2026.

Detailed information related to the scheme, application forms, and all necessary rules and conditions have been made available on the department's official website www.itiharyana.gov.in, from where candidates can easily download them. The department's decision will be final and binding in the entire process of candidate selection.

J.C. Bose University Declares May 2026 Examination Results Within a Month Through Digital Evaluation

First State Govt. University in Haryana to implement Digital Evaluation of Answer Sheets

Chandigarh, August 4: J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has achieved a significant milestone by declaring its entire May-2026 examination results within less than a month, following the successful implementation of an advanced digital evaluation system.

Now, it has become the first state government university to introduce this digital initiative, marking a major step towards strengthening and modernising the examination process. The system ensures greater accuracy, security, transparency and accountability at every stage of evaluation, while also improving the quality of assessment.

The digital evaluation platform has been implemented with effect from May-2026 examinations. This system uses high-speed scanning, secure digital marking, automated marks and grade processing, and a proctored online platform that enables faculty members to evaluate answer sheets remotely with greater flexibility and accuracy.

A key feature of this system is that students can view their evaluated answer sheets online through their ERP login and submit their comments/objections regarding unchecked answers, totalling errors, claims for fewer marks etc, which are duly considered for up-dation, wherever so required. This has significantly reduced examination-related grievances and requests for obtaining answer sheets, besides eliminating delays in retrieving physical answer sheets.Importantly, there were no complaints regarding missing or change of any answer sheets during the May-2026 examination.

Controller of Examinations Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh said that the successful declaration of results within less than a month is a significant achievement and demonstrates the effectiveness of digital evaluation. He said the initiative aims for greater efficiency and accountability and substantially reduce the time for result processing. The University had organised several training programmes on for faculty members before its implementation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar said that the adoption of digital evaluation is a progressive step that has enhanced transparency, accuracy, efficiency and credibility in the examination system. He said the system will help the University declare results within minimum possible time and address students' grievances more effectively. The University is now working towards introducing further technology-driven reforms, including digital solutions for question paper setting and processing with minimal manual intervention, while maintaining strict secrecy and confidentiality, he added.
