Chandigarh, August 2- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said not only the youth of Haryana and Punjab, but young people across the country need to be kept away from drug addiction to realise the dream of a Viksit Bharat. He said that while the Haryana Government, with strong determination, is successfully moving forward towards achieving this goal by regularly engaging youth through Raahgiri, Cyclothon and marathon events, the Punjab Government has neither been able to curb drug abuse nor succeeded in providing employment to the youth.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini made these remarks while addressing a programme organised in Kotkapura, Punjab, on the occasion of the nationwide launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’. Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi virtually launched the 100-week nationwide Nasha Mukt Yuva campaign and addressed more than one crore youth participating in programmes organised at 28,000 locations across the country.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Haryana Government has undertaken a drug-free campaign and helped bring youth out of the vicious cycle of drug abuse, whereas drug abuse has increased over time in Punjab. He said the youth in Punjab are not getting employment, which has adversely affected their condition, and the younger generation is increasingly getting trapped in the quagmire of drug abuse. He said the present Aam Aadmi Party government and the previous Congress governments in Punjab made tall promises for the youth and farmers, but after coming to power, they never showed any interest in fulfilling them.
The Chief Minister said that after the BJP government is formed in Punjab in the upcoming Assembly elections, welfare schemes for youth and farmers will be implemented there as well, on the lines of Haryana. In Haryana, the Government is procuring all 24 crops from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP), while the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana has been implemented for fruits and vegetables. Under this scheme, if these crops are sold in the market at a lower price, the Government compensates farmers for the difference. On similar lines, farmers in Punjab will also benefit from these schemes after the formation of a BJP government in the state.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the country can become a developed nation only when every young person understands the harmful effects of drugs and not only stays away from addiction himself but also motivates other youth to remain drug-free. Drug abuse harms not just an individual but also their family, state and the entire country. The dreams of the family of a person trapped in drug addiction also wither away. Therefore, every young person must understand the seriousness of the issue and stay away from drug abuse.

Chandigarh, August 2: Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the sportspersons who have won medals in the Commonwealth Games have brought laurels to the nation. The country has won a total of 13 Gold Medals in these Games, of which 7 Gold Medals have been won by Haryana’s sportspersons.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the sportspersons and said that it is a matter of immense pride that a small state in terms of population has brought glory to India at the global level. Even in international sporting competitions held earlier, Haryana’s sports persons have won the highest number of medals. The state’s women athletes have also won the highest number of medals. Haryana’s sports persons have delivered an outstanding performance in boxing and javelin at the Commonwealth Games.

Chandigarh, August 2: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, said on the occasion of “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” that the campaign is a historic mass movement aimed at mobilising the power of youth towards building a Viksit Bharat. The role of healthy, empowered and aware youth of the country is most important in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat envisioned by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi from the Red Fort.
Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya was the chief guest at the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp’ programme held in Faridabad, which was addressed by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi through video conferencing.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that only healthy citizens can build a healthy society and a prosperous nation. The Prime Minister has described the youth as the charioteers of nation-building during Amrit Kaal, and My Bharat was established with the objective of providing direction to their aspirations, ideas, spirit of service and leadership capabilities. Today, this platform has connected more than 2.24 crore youth with nation-building activities.
He said that to take forward the resolve for a drug-free India expressed by the Prime Minister in 2020, the My Bharat youth organisation prepared a comprehensive action plan in collaboration with spiritual organisations, youth wings and experts associated with de-addiction across the country. In this regard, following two days of deliberations at the Spiritual Youth Conference held in Varanasi last year, an action plan for the next 100 weeks was prepared and given the form of the “Kashi Spiritual Summit Declaration.”
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that reputed spiritual organisations from across the country are joining the campaign. Saints, gurus and spiritual leaders from several organisations, including Mata Amritanandamayi Math and Art of Living, are actively extending their support to keep youth away from drugs.
He said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India Movement and other mass campaigns under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi have demonstrated that even seemingly impossible goals can be achieved through clear leadership, strong resolve and people’s participation. With the same confidence, the youth of the country are coming forward to build a drug-free India.
He said that the main objective of this campaign is to keep youth away from drugs and connect them with sports, service, innovation, volunteering and nation-building. Chandigarh, August 2: Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that while the present Haryana Government, immediately after taking oath, decided in its first Cabinet meeting to provide 10 per cent reservation to the DSC community, the reservation quota for the DSC community is being scrapped in Punjab. He said that despite clearing the selection process and medical tests, the Punjab Government has sent DSC youth back home at the time of joining. In view of the actions of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress, the people of Punjab will give both parties a befitting reply in the upcoming Assembly elections. After the formation of a BJP government in Punjab, the DSC community will be provided the benefit of reservation.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini made these remarks while addressing a Vimukt Jati Samaj Sammelan organised in Faridkot, Punjab, on Sunday. Comparing the policies of the Haryana and Punjab governments with supporting figures, he criticised the Punjab Government and appealed to the people to elect a BJP government in Punjab in the upcoming Assembly elections so that the neglect faced by the people of Punjab during the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party regimes can be addressed and the people of Punjab can also benefit from policies similar to those implemented in Haryana.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that immediately after the present government was formed in Haryana, it provided a 10 per cent reservation quota for the DSC community. Subsequently, 604 youth from the DSC community were given jobs without “parchi-kharchi” as part of the recruitment of 5,600 police personnel. Similarly, 3,200 Group-D candidates were recently recruited in Haryana, of whom 334 economically disadvantaged youth from the DSC community were provided jobs. On the other hand, in Punjab, youth from deprived communities are not being given joining even after being selected through recruitment.
The Chief Minister said that the truth about those claiming to be an “Aam Aadmi” and an honest government was exposed before not only the people of Punjab but the entire country during the recent recruitment of Excise Inspectors in Punjab. The irregularities in this recruitment have exposed the claims of honesty made by the Mann Government. He said that candidates who had written names such as “State Bank of India”, “DIPS” and “Ik Din Karma Wala” along with their names were selected in this recruitment. The result has been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He said that jobs are being sold in Punjab in such a manner, which is a blatant betrayal of the youth of the state.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that people from Punjab often come to meet him in Chandigarh and say that the reforms implemented by the BJP Government in Haryana should also be implemented in Punjab. He said that the people of Punjab are ready to vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections for this purpose. He said that in Punjab, the government and the Chief Minister are merely entertaining people with jokes and rhetoric, whereas the real responsibility of a government is to work in the interest of the people, in which the Punjab Government has completely failed.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that before forming the government in Haryana, the BJP had made 217 announcements, of which 70 have been fulfilled during the one-and-a-half-year tenure of the government. He asked the Punjab Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal how many of the 57 promises made before the elections had been fulfilled, saying that the people of Punjab want to know the answer.
Addressing the women present at the programme, he said that the Haryana Government had promised to provide financial assistance of Rs. 2,100 per month to mothers and sisters. To fulfil this promise, the Government made a provision of Rs. 5,000 crore in its first Budget and Rs. 6,500 crore in its second Budget. During the one-and-a-half-year tenure of the government, Rs. 1,650 crore has already been transferred to the bank accounts of women. In Punjab, however, a promise was made to provide Rs. 1,000 to women, but even after five years, with only four months remaining before the next elections, the women of Punjab are still awaiting this benefit.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi introduced the Ayushman yojana to provide healthcare to poor people. Haryana expanded its coverage through the Chirayu scheme along with Ayushman Bharat, bringing 1.5 crore people under its ambit. In recent times, 40 lakh people in Haryana have received free treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh, for which the Government has spent Rs. 4,000 crore. Poor families no longer have to sell land or jewellery to meet medical expenses; the Government takes responsibility for the cost of treatment. He said that following the initiative of the Prime Minister, all senior citizens above 70 years of age in Haryana are also receiving treatment at government expense, for which Rs. 8 crore has already been spent.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the BJP Government has provided lakhs of people belonging to the DSC and DNT communities with houses and plots in both urban and rural areas. In Haryana, the State Government has handed over keys to 1.60 lakh houses to poor families over the past 12 years. The present Government has already organised three programmes in Sonipat, Jind and Gurugram to provide houses to poor families from the DSC community. The fourth such programme will soon be organised in Faridabad, where keys to flats will be handed over to 4,000 families.
The Chief Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab had promised to increase the pension for senior citizens from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,500, but it has failed to fulfil this promise to date. In contrast, senior citizens in Haryana are being provided Rs. 3,200 as a mark of respect. The Haryana Government is providing LPG cylinders to the kitchens of poor families at Rs. 500. Free dialysis is also being provided to kidney patients. While appraising the gathering of other welfare schemes of the Haryana Government, he assured that these schemes would also be implemented in Punjab after the formation of a BJP government in the state.

Nayab Singh Saini said that ensuring equal opportunities, social dignity and integration into the mainstream of development for deprived communities is the top priority of the BJP Government. He said that merely acknowledging the historical injustice faced by these communities is not enough; concrete policies and sensitive governance are required to address and eliminate such injustice. ================================================
Haryana Retains Top Position in SGST Collection Growth During First Four Months of FY 2026–27
Chandigarh, August 2: Having recorded the highest growth in State GST (SGST) collections among all States in FY 2025–26, Haryana has retained its leading position in the growth of post-settlement SGST collections during the first four months of FY 2026–27.
As per the latest report released by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Haryana's post-settlement SGST collection for July 2026 stood at ₹5,135 crore, compared to ₹4,027 crore in July 2025, registering a 28% year-on-year growth. This is more than double the national average growth of 13% during the month. Further, in the first four months of FY 2026–27 (April–July), Haryana recorded post-settlement SGST collections of ₹19,680 crores, as against ₹15,055 crore during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, registering a growth of 31%.
This was the highest growth among all States and substantially exceeded the national average growth of 17%. Haryana also recorded the highest growth in overall GST revenues among all States at 25% during July 2026, against the national average growth of 10%. This sustained momentum in SGST collections reflects Haryana's strong fiscal performance and the State Government's focused approach towards revenue mobilisation.
