Chandigarh, 20 February 2026-The PG Department of Computer Science and Applications at GGDSD College organized a technical lecture on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) under the PM-USHA Scheme on 20 February 2026. The lecture aimed to familiarize students with emerging immersive technologies and their real-world applications in education, healthcare, industry, and research.
The resource person for the session was Dr Sarwan Singh, Deputy Director(Systems) from National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), who delivered an insightful and technically enriching lecture. He elaborated on the fundamentals of AR and VR, recent technological advancements, industry use cases in varied fields like medicines, defence and gaming. He further elaborated on trends and future career opportunities in the field. The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging through questions and discussions.
The event was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma, who appreciated the department’s initiative in organizing such technology-oriented academic activities. He emphasized the importance of exposure to emerging technologies in preparing students to meet future challenges.
The Head of the Department, Dr Rina, highlighted the relevance of AR and VR in modern computing education and encouraged students to explore research and innovation in this domain.
