SHIMLA-7 November, 2025-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has called upon the students to believe in themselves, dream without limits and become agents of social transformation. He said that women empowerment was not merely about availing opportunities but about realizing one’s inner strength and potential.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day cultural fest “Symphoria 2025” organized by the St. Bede’s College, Shimla today.

He said that the fest was not just a cultural celebration but a festival of talent, creativity and empowerment, reflecting the glorious legacy of the institution. He lauded the St. Bede’s College for its remarkable contribution to girl's education since its establishment in 1904, describing it as a beacon of learning and progressive thought in North India. The Governor commended the college administration for nurturing character, confidence and leadership among students alongside academic excellence.

Highlighting the major themes of Symphoria 2025 including gender equity and women empowerment, environmental consciousness, Indian knowledge system and culture and diversity, the Governor said that these were highly relevant in the present times. He emphasized that no society could progress without gender equality and women empowerment, while environmental awareness and the Indian knowledge system form the foundation of sustainable growth and cultural identity.

The Governor said that young women represent the new identity of modern India and their energy, creativity and vision would shape the nation’s future. Referring to India’s victory in the Women’s Cricket World Cup, he expressed pride that Himachal’s daughter Renuka Thakur played a key role in the triumph, bringing laurels to the State. “Whether in sports, academics or the armed forces, the daughters of Himachal are leading from the front, and we feel immensely proud,” he added.

The Governor also witnessed and appreciated the cultural performances presented by the students.

Earlier, Principal Sister Rosely welcomed the Governor and briefed him about the details of Symphoria 2025.

Secretary to the Governor, C.P. Verma, officers of the district administration, faculty members, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
