*Congress failed in fulfilling even the fundamental responsibility of appointing an opposition leader - Anil Vij*
*By winning every match and clinching the Asia Cup, our players received a shield from the hearts of 1.44 billion Indians - Vij*
Chandigarh, September 30 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, took a swipe at the Congress party for taking nearly a year to appoint a Leader of Opposition and for the growing factionalism within its ranks. With his characteristic wit, he quoted a famous line: “Ibtedaa-e-ishq hai rota hai kya, aage-aage dekhiye hota hai kya” (“This is just the beginning, why complain now? Watch what happens next”).
While interacting with media persons today, Sh. Vij said that while it is up to each party to decide who holds which responsibility, the delay of almost a year reflects Congress’s inability to take timely decisions. “If such a party were ever in power, and the country faced an attack from Pakistan, their indecisiveness would give Pakistan’s army time to march into Delhi,” he said. He added that “A party that takes a year to select its Leader of Opposition cannot be considered a responsible party. It has failed in fulfilling even the fundamental responsibility of appointing an opposition leader.”
On India’s Asia Cup Victory
Commenting on Team India’s triumph in the T20 Asia Cup, and their decision not to accept the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board’s ACC President Mohsin, Sh. Vij said that “The greatest trophy is the one given by the people. By winning every match and clinching the Asia Cup, our players received a shield from the hearts of 1.44 billion Indians — a recognition far greater than any physical trophy. How could our players accept a trophy from hands stained with the blood of innocents and pilgrims attacked by terrorists? We are proud that our players celebrated their victory on the field without taking the shield.”
On Bihar’s Revised Voter List
Responding to questions about the updated voter list in Bihar, Sh. Vij said that “A purified and corrected voter list has been issued, and no one should object to that. A one-month window was already provided for objections as per the rules. Now that the list has been finalized, elections should proceed smoothly.”
