Chandigarh, October 2 – As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan underway in Haryana since September 17, the ‘GVP-Free Campaign’ was launched in Gurugram on Friday on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti under “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026”. Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini inspected the GVP-free site developed by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram near the DHBVN Colony on Mehrauli Road and formally launched the campaign.
In his message, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini emphasised that cleanliness should not be limited to government arrangements and that active participation of citizens is equally important. He said that the government can provide systems and facilities and make use of modern technology and resources, but segregating waste generated from households and institutions is the responsibility of every citizen. He highlighted government systems, modern technology and public participation as the three important aspects of the cleanliness campaign and said that the objective is to transform the cleanliness drive into a broad-based citizens’ campaign through public participation.
*Segregate waste and do not dump it in the open*
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens not to throw waste in the open, to segregate waste at source and to hand over waste only to authorised waste collection vehicles. The objective of the GVP-Free Campaign is not merely to clean the identified locations once, but also to promote responsible behaviour among citizens so that garbage does not accumulate again at these points.
*10 days, 21 garbage-vulnerable points and one clean Gurugram*
As per the campaign launched by the Municipal Corporation, the GVP-Free Campaign will be conducted from October 2 to 11. Under the campaign, special cleanliness drives will be carried out at 21 identified Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) across the city, with the aim of transforming them into clean and improved public spaces. The campaign carries the message: “10 Days – 21 Garbage Points – One Gurugram”. The Chief Minister also invited citizens to join the campaign and contribute through voluntary labour and cooperation in keeping the GVPs in their respective areas clean.
*Special cleanliness drives to be conducted in different areas*

On October 3, the campaign will be held at Tikri and Sector 18; on October 4 at Urbana Mall and Subhash Chowk; on October 5 at Pace City-1 and Gaushala Maidan; and on October 6 at Pace City and Singha Chowk. Citizens have been urged to join the campaign in their respective areas, contribute through voluntary labour and help spread the message of cleanliness. The core message of the campaign is to transform garbage points into beautiful points and make cleanliness a part of everyday civic behaviour.
During the programme, street theatre artists conveyed the message of maintaining cleanliness and segregating waste through their performance. All those present along with the Chief Minister also took the cleanliness pledge.
