CM directs to file affidavit to take over of 66 MW Dhaulasidh Project

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu directed the Power Department to file an affidavit in the Court to take over the 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project being constructed on the Beas river by the SJVNL. While presiding over the meeting of the Power Department here today, the Chief Minister said that the state government is ready to pay the first instalment towards the cost of the project to facilitate the taking over Dhaulasidh Power Project back in the interest of the state.

The Chief Minister said that the present state government would not compromise on the interests of the people of the state and remains steadfast to protect the wealth and resources of the state. He said that the state government is also making earnest efforts to take over Luhri and Sunni hydro projects as well from the SJVNL.

Sh. Sukhu reviewed the various under construction hydro power projects and directed to expedite the construction of these projects in a time bound manner to reap maximum benefits for the people of the state.

During the meeting, officers apprised the Chief Minister that 450 MW Shong Tong Power Project will fully become functional by September next year following the commissioning of three turbines. It was also apprised that power purchase agreement will be signed with HPSEBL for the electricity to be generated from this project.

The Chief Minister reviewed the 66 KV transmission line being constructed from Pooh to Samdo and Samdo to Kaza and directed to accelerate the work. He also reviewed the progress of Rangrik 2 MW solar power project equipped with 1 Mwh battery energy storage system and instructed to make it functional before the snowfall. He said that during snowfall season, the project shall remain operational so that the people of the area receive uninterrupted power supply.

Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, Chairman, HPSEBL Prabodh Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary Power R.D. Nazeem, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Managing Director HPSEBL Aditya Negi, Managing Director HP Power Transmission Corporation Abid Hussain Sadiq, Director Energy Shubh Karan Singh and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
