Chandigarh, September 11: Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, organised the Induction Ceremony of Readers Club and NDLI Club 2026–27 along with a Reading Circle on September 11, 2026, at the College Committee Room. The event marked the beginning of a new journey for the newly selected members, centred around books, stories, ideas and meaningful conversations.

Organised by Readers Club of the College Library in association with the NDLI Club, the induction ceremony aimed to warmly welcome the new members and introduce them to the vision, activities and workings of the clubs.

The ceremony brought together newly inducted members, existing members, and other members of the College community, providing the new members an opportunity to interact and connect with the wider College community. A special batching ceremony was also organised as part of the induction, symbolising the formal inclusion of the new members into Readers’ Club. Principal , Dr. Ajay Sharma, presented badges to the newly appointed office bearers of the Readers’ Club and NDLI Club for the session 2026–27- President — Aditya Verma, Vice-President — Harshita Singh, Student Coordinators — Ananya Abrol & Vartika Rawat, Event Management Head — Cheshtha Khunger, Content Head — Gurpreet Kaur, Graphics Head — Naman Mandhotra, NDLI Registration Head — Balpreet Singh, Social Media Head — Jahanvi Shukla.

The event also featured an open-genre Reading Circle, encouraging students to explore the diverse world of literature and discuss books of their choice across different genres. About 21 students actively participated in this circle.The Reading Circle highlighted how different genres offer unique ways of experiencing stories and understanding different perspectives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, encouraged students to actively engage with books as part of their life journey.

Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Assistant Vice President, Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, was the guest on the occasion. Sharing his connection with reading, he encouraged students to nurture the habit and wished them a magical journey filled with reading, books and new discoveries. The College Vice President, Mr. Ashutosh, also inspired students to read as much as they can, drawing upon his own enriching reading experiences.

The induction ceremony and Reading Circle concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sohal, expressing gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, club members and everyone present for their valuable presence and support.
