Chandigarh, August 25, 2026:A Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) was organised at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Sector 28-C, Chandigarh, on Tuesday under the supervision and guidance of Ms. Palika Arora, PCS, State Apprenticeship Advisor-cum-Director, Technical Education, U.T. Chandigarh.
The mela witnessed participation from 19 prominent establishments from Chandigarh and neighbouring regions, including Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU), Haryana Roadways, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Directorate of Geomatics Research and Environment (DGRE), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Verka Mohali Milk Plant, Mahindra dealerships and Deltron Chandigarh.
The participating establishments offered a total of 959 apprenticeship vacancies in various trades, including Electrician, Fitter, Welder, COPA (Computer Operator and Programming Assistant), Turner, Carpenter and Electronics. As many as 302 aspiring trainees participated in the mela, interacted with industry representatives, submitted applications and underwent on-the-spot screening and evaluation.
Ms. Palika Arora, PCS, visited the venue and reviewed the arrangements. She interacted with the participating establishments and candidates, encouraging the trainees to make the most of the apprenticeship opportunities and build strong careers through practical training and industry exposure. She also appreciated the participating organisations for their contribution to skill development and employment generation in the region.
The mela concluded successfully, providing a valuable platform for connecting skilled youth with industry and strengthening apprenticeship opportunities in Chandigarh and adjoining areas.
