Chandigarh, 16 August 2026:Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Manish Tewari planted a Mango sapling,State Tree of Chandigarh, at Daria, Sukhna Choe Forest, Chandigarh under " Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign" and as a part of the ongoing plantation and greening initiatives of the Forest Department, UT Chandigarh.

During the visit, the Hon’ble MP was apprised of various initiatives being undertaken by the Forest Department for strengthening green cover, ecological restoration and sustainable management of forest areas in Chandigarh. He was also briefed about ongoing forestry works and efforts aimed at enhancing biodiversity and promoting environmental conservation.

The Hon’ble MP subsequently visited the Hi-Tech Nursery at Daria, where he took keen interest in the nursery operations and was briefed about the production of quality planting material. He appreciated the Department’s efforts towards low-cost production of saplings and the utilization of the nursery to meet plantation requirements in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.

Students of PM SHRI Government School, Dhanas, also participated in the plantation programme and planted saplings in the presence of the Hon’ble MP. Their participation highlighted the importance of involving the younger generation in environmental conservation and nurturing a sense of responsibility towards nature.

Shri Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Forest, Chandigarh, Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Saurabh Kumar, Conservator of Forests Shri Anup Kumar Soni and Deputy Conservator of Forests Shri Satyendra Maurya**, along with officers and staff of the Forest Department, participated in the plantation programme.
