Chandigarh, June 26:- Continuing its intensive enforcement drive against unauthorized occupation of municipal land and illegal street vending, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh conducted special operations across various parts of the city today.
A focused drive was carried out against illegal automobile repair and painting activities being conducted on Municipal Corporation land in Sector 13, Manimajra and Motor Market, Sector 38. During the operation, enforcement teams impounded 12 vehicles, including trucks, cars, tippers, and mechanical equipment such as jacks and rubber machines being used by unauthorized mechanics.
Simultaneously, anti-encroachment and anti-vending drives were undertaken in Ram Darbar Phase-II, Sectors 32, 41, 45 Light Point, 46, and Naya Gaon Barrier area. Several illegal vendors and encroachments were removed to restore public spaces and ensure smooth movement of pedestrians and traffic.
During the day's operations, a total of 83 challans were issued, while 4 trucks and 8 cars were impounded. The Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to maintaining public spaces free from encroachments and appealed to citizens to cooperate in keeping the city clean, orderly, and accessible.
