Chandigarh, May 9:- Continuing the drive to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve public amenities across the city, the Chief Engineer of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh Sh. Sanjay Arora conducted an extensive inspection of various sectors today. He was accompanied by Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of all wings.

During the inspection of Sector 21, directions were issued to expedite recarpeting of parking areas and undertake thermoplastic road markings in consultation with the Market Welfare Association (MWA). The MWA also agreed to deploy its own staff for effective parking management in public interest.

The Chief Engineer further directed that kerbs around trees be provided strictly in accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Court while preserving the green cover. Cleaning of storm water drainage systems and road gullies was also ordered on priority.

Markings at the backside of showrooms will be carried out following requests from the MWA. A proposal regarding placement of decorative plant pots on the Wide Dividing Footpath (WDF), as suggested by the area Councillor, will also be explored in coordination with the MWA for proper upkeep and maintenance.

In Sector 20, the Chief Engineer instructed officials to complete patchwork in parking areas expeditiously, clear sewerage lines on priority and accelerate pending road restoration works. Immediate lifting of leftover construction material related to storm water drainage and other developmental works was also directed.

During inspection of Sector 34, directions were issued for urgent repair of potholes, completion of road markings and immediate clearance of the sewerage system to ensure smooth public convenience.

The Chief Engineer directed all concerned officers to attend to the inspection points without delay and submit detailed Action Taken Reports at the earliest to ensure timely compliance of all directions.
