Chandigarh, 09.05.26-: On the occasion of World Red Cross Day 2026, the Haryana State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society is being widely recognized for its remarkable contribution in the fields of humanitarian service, disaster relief, and social welfare. Working under the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive,” the Haryana Red Cross Society continues to serve the needy based on the seven fundamental principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.

Ankush Miglani, Vice Chairman of the Haryana State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, stated that the organization has so far organized more than 5,000 blood donation camps and collected nearly 350,000 units of blood, establishing a distinct identity for Haryana Red Cross across the country. He said that Red Cross is not merely an organization of statistics, but a living example of humanity in action.

He further informed that under the guidance of Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, President of the Haryana State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society and Governor of Haryana, the organization is continuously launching new initiatives to strengthen public service and humanitarian values. The Governor has provided a grant of ₹1.20 crore from the discretionary fund for expanding ambulance services in district Red Cross branches, leading to the procurement of 10 new ambulances. This initiative has significantly improved access to healthcare services, especially in industrial areas and for underprivileged people.

Ankush Miglani emphasized that “keeping humanity alive” is not limited to financial assistance alone, but also means understanding the pain of others and standing beside them during difficult times. With this vision, Haryana Red Cross is launching the “Aapda Mitra” initiative to connect youth with humanitarian work so that immediate relief can be provided during emergencies.

He stated that through blood donation camps, disaster relief operations, first-aid training, health awareness campaigns, and support for the underprivileged, the organization is strengthening the spirit of humanity and cooperation in society. In addition, the Red Cross is actively engaged in anti-drug awareness campaigns, tuberculosis eradication awareness, old-age homes for senior citizens, and providing artificial limbs and assistive devices to persons with disabilities.

Ankush Miglani added that in this era of rapid technological advancement, where people are increasingly drifting apart emotionally, preserving humanity and sensitivity has become more important than ever. He said that while science and technology are essential, human compassion is equally necessary — and that is the core message of World Red Cross Day.
