Chandigarh, 7 April: Startup Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with the Postgraduate Department of Commerce, under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised a workshop on ‘Raising Capital and Finance Management for Start-ups’. The initiative aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge of start-up financing, capital generation strategies, and sound financial management practices crucial for entrepreneurial success.
The workshop featured insightful sessions by distinguished resource persons, Mr. Gursimran Singh Oberoi, Founder and Managing Director, Institute of Professional Banking, and CA Garima Grover, Tax Advisor, MSKG & Co., Zirakpur. The experts elaborated on diverse funding avenues, including bootstrapping, venture capital, and institutional financing, while also addressing key aspects of financial planning and taxation relevant to emerging start-ups. Drawing from their professional expertise, they provided practical perspectives and real-world examples, enabling students to better understand the financial dynamics of entrepreneurship. The session proved highly enriching as it enhanced students’ financial literacy, entrepreneurial acumen, and confidence to explore and sustain start-up ventures.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and stated that such workshops play a pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurial thinking among students. She emphasised that equipping young minds with financial knowledge and practical exposure is essential for fostering innovation and self-reliance in today’s competitive environment.
