Chandigarh, April 4:- Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Transport Area, Sector 26 to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure works and address issues raised by the Chandigarh Transport Association.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of Superintending Engineer Sh. K. P. Singh and Executive Engineers of all concerned wings of the Municipal Corporation.

During the visit, the Chief Engineer reviewed the progress of the up-gradation of the sewer system in the Transport Area. Officials informed that about 95% of the work has already been completed and the remaining work is expected to be finished by 15 April 2026. The improvement of the sewer network will help resolve the problem of frequent blockages being faced by shopkeepers and transport operators.

The team also examined the issue of storm water drainage and damaged road gullies in the area. It was informed that the work for up-gradation of the storm water drainage system has been allotted and will commence from 6 April 2026, with completion targeted within one month to ensure smooth drainage and prevent water stagnation during the rainy season.

The Chief Engineer directed the concerned officers to maintain strict timelines and ensure quality execution of works, keeping in view the importance of the Transport Area as a major commercial and logistics hub of the city. He also interacted with representatives of the Transport Association and assured them that the Municipal Corporation is committed to resolving their civic issues on priority.

The Municipal Corporation reiterated that coordinated efforts of all engineering wings are being undertaken to improve infrastructure and civic amenities in the Transport Area, Sector 26.
