MAHENDERGARH, 29.03.26-The School of Law, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh marked a historic milestone as it hosted the inaugural session of its first-ever National Moot Court Competition. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Anand Sharma, Director of the Centre for Indian Knowledge System, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Senior Advocate, District Court Narnaul, as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, applauded the efforts of the organizers and conveyed his best wishes to all participating teams.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Pardeep Singh, Head and Dean of the School of Law, who expressed immense delight in welcoming 20 participating teams from across the Nation, representing the rich diversity of legal education in the Country. Describing moot court competitions as the "laboratory for law students," Prof. Pardeep urged participants to give their best, wishing for compelling arguments and the triumph of the most deserving team. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the Founding Vice Chancellor for laying the visionary foundation of the Department of Law and to Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University, for providing unwavering support and freedom to the department's fraternity in organizing such prestigious events. The Dean also acknowledged the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and students in making the competition a reality.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Anand Sharma emphasized that moot courts serve as an invaluable platform for young budding lawyers to refine their advocacy skills, which would prove instrumental in their future growth in the legal field. Drawing upon the profound concepts of justice and Nyaya, he motivated students to dedicate themselves to ensuring justice reaches the disadvantaged sections of society. Mr. Rakesh Mehta, the Guest of Honour, enriched the session with his practical insights, encouraging participants to embrace the spirit of rigorous legal practice.
Dr. Samiksha highlighted that the two-day event promises a healthy and spirited competition among the teams, while the event also witnessed the presence of Dr. Dharmpal and Mr. Rakesh Meena, among other esteemed members of the University community. The participating teams included esteemed institutions such as Banasthali Vidyapith, GD Goenka, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Babu Vanarasi Das, Keshav Memorial, KLE Law College Bangalore, Himachal Pradesh University, Kurukshetra University, Central University of Punjab, UPSIFS Lucknow, SRM Sonipat, KR Manglam, and Amity University Punjab, among others. With enthusiastic participation and a spirit of intellectual camaraderie, the competition is set to witness two days of rigorous legal discourse and exceptional advocacy.
