MC Chandigarh cracks down on encroachments; 65 challans issued, vehicles impounded in citywide drive
Chandigarh, March 15:-Continuing its sustained efforts to keep the city’s public spaces free from encroachments, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh conducted an extensive anti-encroachment drive in different parts of the city during morning and evening operations. During the drive, enforcement teams issued 65 challans to violators and impounded 13 vehicles for illegal parking and encroachment of public spaces.
In a morning drive near Radha Swami Bhawan in Sector 27, the enforcement team removed 42 illegally placed rehri-pharis that were obstructing pedestrian movement and encroaching upon public areas. The action was carried out to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain cleanliness and order in the market area.
Later in the evening drive at the Car Bazaar in Manimajra, Sector 13, the team took strict action against vehicles parked without valid stickers and in violation of municipal norms. During the operation, 15 cars were impounded and 15 challans were issued to violators.
Such drives will continue regularly across the city to ensure strict compliance with civic regulations. Citizens and vendors have been urged to follow the rules and avoid encroaching upon public spaces to maintain Chandigarh’s planned urban character and ensure convenience for residents and visitors alike.
