Chandigarh:17.02.26-The IA&AD North Zone Football Tournament 2025–2026, organized by the Office of the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement), Punjab & UT Chandigarh, was inaugurated at the Sports Complex, Sector 42, Chandigarh, by Mohammad Tayyab, IAS, Secretary, Jails Department, Government of Punjab.
Encouraging the players, Mohammad Tayyab said that it was heartening to witness such sporting events being organized.
Providing details about the tournament, Tripti Gupta, Accountant General, informed that a total of seven teams from the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) are participating in this event. The participating teams represent Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir.
In the first match, AG Punjab defeated AG Uttarakhand with a convincing margin of 6–0, turning the contest into a one-sided affair.
The second match was played between Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, where the Delhi team showcased aggressive play right from the beginning and defeated Himachal Pradesh by a massive margin of 18–0.
In the third match, Haryana faced Uttar Pradesh. In the 26th minute, the UP team scored the opening goal. Haryana made the contest thrilling by opening their account just before half-time. In the 67th minute, Haryana converted a penalty to secure a 2–1 victory over Uttar Pradesh.
