Jalandhar, 31.01.26-; Lovely Professional University (LPU), one of India’s leading higher education institutions, has recorded a strong performance in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, securing the top position in India across three major subject areas. The university ranked No. 1 in India in Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Business & Economics, establishing a new benchmark for academic excellence in the country.

In Engineering, LPU ranked 2nd in India with a 251–300 global band, surpassing several IITs, IIIT Hyderabad, Delhi Technological University, and numerous NITs. In Medical and Health Sciences, LPU secured 3rd rank in India with a 301–400 global band, ahead of Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University. The university also featured strongly in Computer Science, ranking 6th in India with a 401–500 global band, and in Life Sciences, ranking 7th in India with a 401–500 global band, outperforming multiple IITs and other public universities.
