Jalandhar, 27.01.26-; In the shades of saffron, white and green, Lovely Professional University transformed into a living tableau of patriotism, pride and purpose while celebrating the 77th Republic Day of India with unmatched fervour and grandeur. The celebrations commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets as the Chief Guest, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, arrived alongside presiding officer, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro Chancellor of LPU. Amidst disciplined salutes and resonant drumbeats, the national flag was hoisted with dignity, as the National Anthem echoed across the campus and unified thousands of students, faculty members, staff and the entire LPU fraternity in collective pride.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal reflected on India’s remarkable journey and its emergence as the fourth largest economy in the world. He underlined how the nature of global conflicts has evolved from traditional military confrontations to software led and economy driven battles, visible in shifting tariffs, technological dominance and fluctuations in the Sensex. Dr. Mittal emphasised that this new form of global competition places the true strength of the nation in the hands of its youth, whose knowledge, skills and innovation will determine India’s economic and technological leadership.

Dr. Mittal further shared that empowering the youth requires a new age education system, one that moves beyond rote learning and embraces practicality, industry relevance and real world application. Aligning with this vision, LPU had launched the Edurevolution initiative exactly a year ago, which is flourishing remarkably well. Dr. Mittal stated that the university will continue to strengthen this revolution to nurture empowered youth who will ultimately lead the nation towards sustained growth and global leadership through education and visionary thinking.
The celebrations unfolded with a vibrant parade procession, where various departments of LPU showcased their academic, research, cultural and sports achievements from across the year, reflecting the university’s all-round progress and excellence. Adding to the spectacle, a special fashion showcase themed on India highlighted the country’s rich heritage and unity in diversity, while students made aeroplanes soared high with the Tricolour tied proudly, symbolising innovation taking flight in the spirit of patriotism.

During the celebrations, LPU students were awarded project funding under the EduRevolution initiative as part of the university’s vision to encourage innovation, applied learning and entrepreneurial thinking among young minds. Out of 39 project nominations, 16 were shortlisted for excellence, and four outstanding student projects received funding support amounting to ₹10.7 lakh, reflecting the university’s continued focus on nurturing research-driven ideas and future-ready solutions.

Adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion, the Division of Art and Culture, LPU, was honoured with a cash prize of ₹12.83 lakh for its remarkable triumphs at the All India Inter University Championships and the Punjab State Championship, besides earning several prestigious accolades over the year through outstanding cultural excellence.
