Chandigarh, January 14: The Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) on Tuesday organised a felicitation ceremony at Lok Bhawan to honour its golfers who excelled at national and international levels during 2025. Titled “CGA Champions 2025,” the ceremony saw the outstanding golfers being honoured by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria.
Among those felicitated were Yuvraj Singh, who topped the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit with a record seven titles in a single season, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Jeev Milkha Singh, and Arjuna Awardees Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjit Bhullar.
Mr R.K. Pachnanda, IPS (Retd.), President, Chandigarh Golf Association, along with CGA office bearers and coaches of the awardees, was also present on the occasion.
Congratulating the achievers, Governor Kataria lauded their exceptional performances and said their achievements had brought pride to Chandigarh, Punjab, and the nation. He also appreciated the world-class facilities and robust coaching ecosystem developed by the Chandigarh Golf Association, noting that it has played a vital role in nurturing young golfing talent from Chandigarh and the tricity region in this Olympic sport.
Addressing the gathering, Shri R.K. Pachnanda exhorted the award-winning golfers to continue striving for excellence and assured that CGA would continue to provide all necessary facilities to trainees. He expressed confidence that Chandigarh would one day fulfil its dream of winning an Olympic medal in golf.
The CGA President further highlighted that the Chandigarh Golf Association, established in 1999, has remained steadfast in promoting and developing the game of golf. Emphasis has consistently been placed on structured training, professional coaching, and nurturing talent, including sportspersons from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
Over the years, golfers trained under the CGA umbrella have delivered outstanding performances at national and international forums, bringing immense pride to UT Chandigarh, Punjab, and India. Notably, a majority of India’s top golfers hail from Chandigarh and are products of the CGA ecosystem. India’s No. 1, 2, 4, and 5 ranked golfers are all from Chandigarh, underlining the city’s dominance in Indian golf.
CGA golfers have also represented the country at the highest platforms, including the Olympic Games and Asian Games, and have been part of medal-winning contingents for India.
In recognition of these exceptional achievements, the Chandigarh Golf Association deemed it fitting to honour the CGA Champions 2025, with the objective of boosting their morale and further enhancing the sporting pride of Chandigarh, Punjab, and the region.
The awards were presented in categories of Juniors, Amateurs & Professionals to the following golfers of CGA:-
