Chandigarh 14 January 2026: The NSS units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a nutritious meal distribution drive on 14th January 2025 to commemorate the auspicious festival of Makar Sankranti, symbolising gratitude, sharing, and social harmony.
The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of social responsibility. The volunteers distributed meals to the faculty members, staff, and students within the college campus. Extending the outreach beyond the campus, the volunteers also visited Sector 36, Chandigarh, where meals were distributed to local residents and members of the community. This hands-on experience enabled the volunteers to interact closely with the community, sensitizing them to the importance of food security, compassion, and service to humanity.
The College Principal Mrs. Neena Sharma appreciated the efforts of the NSS units and emphasized that such initiatives not only reflect the true spirit of festivals like Makar Sankranti but also help inculcate values of empathy, social awareness, and civic responsibility among students. She further encouraged students to continue engaging in community-oriented activities that contribute to societal well-being.
