CHANDIGARH,26.12.25-Veer Baal Diwas was observed in the Child Care Institutions of U.T. Chandigarh in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India. The observance formed part of the nationwide initiative to recognise children as the foundation of the nation and to promote the values of courage, discipline, creativity and responsible citizenship among young minds.

A 10-day series of activities was organised by the Union Territory Child Protection Society under the aegis of the Social Welfare Department, from 16th to 26th December 2025, across various Child Care Institutions, including Observation Homes, Special Homes, Places of Safety, and Snehalayas for boys and girls. Children from multiple age groups participated with enthusiasm and active involvement.

A variety of activities such as quiz competitions, storytelling sessions, painting and poster-making competitions, essay and poem writing, role-modelling exercises, awareness talks, debates, sports and fitness events, skits, role plays, and patriotic group singing were conducted. The thematic focus of these activities included stories of valour from India’s history, the role of children in nation-building, courage, compassion, Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

These activities encouraged children to express their thoughts freely, develop confidence, and understand the importance of values such as patriotism, unity and responsibility. In addition, awareness sessions and audio-visual presentations were organised to familiarise children with inspiring stories of India’s freedom fighters and the supreme sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzaade, highlighting the essence of courage, selflessness and service to the nation.

On 26th December 2025, a total of 207 children, along with staff members residing in Child Care Institutions, attended the live web telecast of the National Veer Baal Diwas programme, during which Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation.

At the conclusion of the observance, immunity kits were distributed to all children residing in Child Care Institutions as part of ongoing efforts to promote their health and well-being.

The celebration of Veer Baal Diwas across Child Care Institutions in Chandigarh was conducted smoothly and witnessed active participation, reflecting the Administration’s continued commitment to the welfare, development and empowerment of children, in alignment with the objectives of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India
