Chandigarh, December 15:The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today paid heartfelt tributes to former Union Home Minister and former Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Shivraj Patil, who passed away on December 12.

Offering floral tributes at Punjab Lok Bhawan, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that with the demise of Shri Shivraj Patil Ji, the country has lost an experienced statesman, an able administrator, and a respected parliamentarian. “We deeply mourn the passing away of Shri Shivraj Patil Ji,” the Governor said.

The Governor stated that, born on October 12, 1935, Shri Patil Ji was an eminent public figure who held several important constitutional and parliamentary positions during his long and distinguished public life. He made significant contributions to the nation while serving as Union Home Minister, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, and also held the additional charge of Governor of Rajasthan.

On the occasion, the Governor, along with officers and staff of Punjab Lok Bhawan, observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
