Chandigarh MC Commissioner conducts comprehensive review in Mauli Jagran; Launches Swachhata drive and orders fast-track development works

Chandigarh, November 18:- Chandigarh Municipal Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, today undertook an extensive visit to Mauli Jagran along with Area Councillor Smt. Bimla Dubey, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Inderdeep Kaur and senior officials of the Municipal Corporation to assess ongoing development works and review essential civic amenities in the locality.

The Commissioner, accompanied by local residents, administered a Swachhata Pledge, urging the community to maintain cleanliness and contribute to a healthier living environment. As part of an awareness initiative, pamphlets on waste segregation were distributed, educating citizens on the importance of separating wet and dry waste at the household level.

During the visit, Sh. Amit Kumar inspected various development projects and interacted with residents to understand their needs and concerns. He directed the officials to ensure timely completion of all pending works and to enhance overall civic service delivery in the area. He issued firm instructions to the engineering wing to promptly resolve issues highlighted by the Councillor and residents, including waterlogging in low-lying pockets, non-functional street lights in Sundernagar, and the repair and renovation of community centres in Mauli Jagran Part II and Sundernagar.

The Commissioner also emphasized the urgent renovation of tubewells in Daria, provision of paver blocks near the Daria police station, and repair and maintenance of the cremation ground at Industrial Area Phase I. Further, he called for swift action on the construction of a high-level bridge on the AI Choe near the Industrial Area Phase I entry from the railway station side. Directions were also issued for pruning overgrown trees, setting up toilet blocks in Industrial Area Phase I, and ensuring thorough cleanliness in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Colony.

MCC carried out anti encroachment drive in sector 22 and Attawa

Chandigarh, November 18:- The Municipal Corporation chandigarh

today carried out a anti-encroachment drive in Sector 22 (outer area) and Attwa, with the objective of ensuring smooth public movement and maintaining civic order.

During the operation, enforcement teams acted against unauthorized occupation of public spaces, roadside vendors operating without permission, and illegal extensions obstructing pathways. A total of 42 challans were issued to individual violators and establishments found encroaching on government land.

The drive was conducted under the strict directions of MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS who emphasized that public spaces must remain accessible to all citizens. He instructed enforcement teams to adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward violations and to continue such checks regularly. The Commissioner reiterated that encroachments not only hinder traffic flow but also pose safety risks for pedestrians and commuters.

He urged residents and shopkeepers to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation and remove any unauthorized structures voluntarily. The MC further warned that repeated violations would attract heavier penalties and immediate removal of encroachments.
