MAHENDERGARH, 06.11.25-The Department of Printing and Packaging Technology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, organized an educational visit to the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Delhi. under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between CUH and IIP.

On this occasion Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of CUH, said that the CUH–IIP partnership reflects the University’s commitment to fostering experiential learning and innovation, enabling students to become future-ready professionals in the dynamic and sustainable packaging industry.

Prof. Vikas Garg, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SoET), appreciated the initiative and noted that such institutional collaborations and educational visits provide valuable technical exposure, enabling students to connect classroom learning with real-world packaging applications.

The programme began with an inaugural session presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Tanveer Alam, Additional Director and Regional Officer, IIP Delhi. Dr. Alam delivered an insightful address on the role of packaging in preserving, protecting, and promoting products, highlighting the key principles of 3P (Preserve, Protect, Promote), 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), 5S (Secure, Safe, Standard, Sustain, Systemize), and 1i (Innovation). He further discussed diverse career opportunities in the packaging sector, including food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, cosmetic packaging, industrial packaging, and automobile packaging, encouraging students to explore these emerging areas of professional growth.
Dr. Sandeep Boora addressed the gathering, emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of printing and packaging and the need to bridge the existing skill gap in the packaging sector through academic–industry collaboration. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sandeep Boora, Ms. Suman Kumari, Dr. Preeti, and Dr. Mandagini.

Students also attended an expert lecture on “Packaging Testing and Standards” delivered by Mr. Tushar Bandopadhyay, followed by a guided laboratory tour of IIP Delhi’s advanced facilities, including the Paper and Paperboard Testing Lab, Presto Lab, Barrier Lab, Biodegradability Lab, Chemical Laboratory, Transport Lab, Food Lab, Advanced Sustainable Packaging Laboratory, and Glass Lab.

A total of 50 students, along with two faculty members — Dr. Sandeep Boora and Ms. Suman Kumari participated in the visit. The visit provided students with valuable insights into packaging material evaluation, performance testing, and quality assurance, helping them connect theoretical knowledge with industrial applications.
