CHANDIGARH, 17.06.25-Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Shakti Prakash Devshali wrote a letter to Chandigarh Administrator and Transport Secretary expressing objection to opening of food shop at outer gate of ISBT, Sector 17 and demanded immediate cancellation of its allotment in larger public interest.
Devshali said that the Transport Department has allotted the space at outer gate of ISBT Sector 17 to some person through auction for opening of food shop/canteen. It is worth mentioning here that opening of canteen at outer gate will create traffic chaos and the area will turn into accident prone area. CTU has already leased out many shops including canteen space inside the bus stand. Instead of opening canteens in place of ATM booths, CTU officials should contact various bank officials and install ATM machines which have the facility of both cash withdrawal and deposit, which will be more beneficial for the passengers as well as the department. If there is a need to open a canteen at a place other than the planned shops, it should be opened at least 20-30 feet inside the main gate so that unnecessary crowding at the main gate does not cause any kind of accident.
