SHIMLA, 09.06.25-While talking to media persons here today, Naresh Chauhan, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated that the Himachal government was successfully completing its two-and-a-half-year tenure. This period has been marked by the state’s rapid and all-around balanced development and a strong focus on the welfare of all the sections of society.
The government has prioritized implementing welfare-oriented policies and initiatives driven by a vision of systemic transformation. Chauhan emphasized that these transformative decisions will yield widespread benefits for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
He criticized the opposition for failing to fulfil its essential role within the democratic system. He noted that the BJP’s national reputation was one that attempts to overthrow democratically elected governments. However, the people of Himachal Pradesh reaffirmed their trust in the Congress by decisively rejecting such conspiracies and returning the reins of power to the Congress party.
Chauhan stated that the public has endorsed the government’s policies and programs, highlighting that most of the promises made during the election campaign have been fulfilled. In strengthening the rural economy, the government increased the minimum support price for cow milk from ₹32 to ₹51 per litre and for buffalo milk from ₹47 to ₹61 per litre. Under the law, orphaned children have been adopted as “Children of the State.” Moreover, OPS has been reinstated for employees under NPS. The state is moving towards becoming a green-energy hub, with active initiatives in electric vehicles, solar energy, and hydropower.
He took a dig at the BJP, accusing them of being unable to accept the state’s developmental progress and indulging in negative politics that tarnish Himachal’s image. In contrast, the current Congress administration is working to correct the misdeeds of the previous BJP government. Chief Minister Sukhu is actively advocating for the state’s interests, particularly regarding the ₹5,000 crore arrears pending with the Bhakra Beas Management Board, a fight the state government is leading on behalf of the people.
On the development of tourism, the Chief Media Advisor outlined an innovative initiative being championed by the Chief Minister, the launch of border-area tourism. He explained that this project was approved in a high-level meeting held in Shimla recently and appreciated the efforts of the Chief. The visitors will now have access to the border areas and will surely get themselves acquainted with the culture and customs of the tribal people. Besides, this will also provide indirect and direct employment to the people of the area.
Talking on operation 'Sindoor', he said that after directions from US President Donald Trump, the Prime Minister of India resorted to ceasefire in a war against Pakistan and the people of the country and the opposition has been asking time and again as why the Prime Minister bowed down to the business tactics of US President. After three days of the conflict, both India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire, which was opposed by the countrymen.
Chauhan criticised the Prime Minister for taking credit of the war by posing in army attire, which was uncalled for. It is always the armed forces that fight on the front and should be given due respect for their valour, but, opposite to this, just for political mileage, the Prime Minister was taking the credit, which does not suit his stature.
