Press Statement of Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh issued at Shimla on 28th May, 2005

SHIMLA, 28.05.25-While addressing the media persons here today, Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh said that the State Government was committed to provide justice to the family of late Engineer Vimal Negi and will co-operate the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at all levels.

He said that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was quite clear in his decision to take action against the erring officers, as indiscipline of sorts, he said won't be tolerated. No one is above the law and the rules of service, he remarked.

The Government accepts the decision of the High Court to let CBI conduct the inquiry and will cooperate with the agency wherever they require the assistance of the State government.

He said that the BJP was quite perplexed and had submitted the memorandum to the Governor against the government in haste, which is baseless. The Government will complete its full term and the 'ifs and buts' of the BJP won't make any difference and so their conspiracies. The BJP is involved in 'witch hunting' simply because of their own opinion and political gains.

The Minister said that this was not the time to do politics over the death of Vimal Negi. There are certain issues in public interest irrespective of party politics and opposition should abstain taking political mileage over the matter and rather should join hands so that both the ends of justice could meet in a fair and transparent manner.
