Chandigarh, 29th May 2025: The Central Placement Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a scholarship distribution function today to support meritorious students through the generous sponsorship of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust of Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Singh Oberoi. The event took place at the Central Placement Cell office on the university campus.

The scholarships were distributed in the presence of esteemed guests, including Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Director, Research & Development Cell, and Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean of the College Development Council. Both dignitaries appreciated the initiative and congratulated the student beneficiaries.

Prof. Meenakshi Goyal encouraged students to aim high, emphasising the values of perseverance and gratitude. Prof. Sanjay Kaushik lauded the efforts of the Central Placement Cell and the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, stating that such initiatives play a vital role in bridging the gap between financial constraints and academic aspirations.

Prof. Meena Sharma, Honorary Director of the Central Placement Cell, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Trust for its continued support since the 2016–17 academic session, under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Panjab University. She reiterated that the Central Placement Cell not only facilitates student placements but also conducts a wide range of skill development, training, and career readiness programs. She further emphasised that the Cell actively works to support students holistically, and the scholarship initiative under the MoU with Prof. (Dr.) S.P Singh Oberoi, Managing Trustee, Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust is a testimony of this commitment, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind due to financial hardship. Prof Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Associate Director, Central Placement cell congratulated the students for the same.

This year, 14 students from diverse departments, including Mathematics, University institute of Engineering & Technology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Evening Studies, Chemistry have been awarded scholarships totalling ₹1,18,000. These scholarships aim to support academically bright and hardworking students in pursuing their education without financial burden.

The event concluded with a note of appreciation to the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust for its continued dedication to the cause of education and student empowerment.
